良いお天気だったので、West Dean に少し歩きに行きました。いつもは家でお昼を食べてから行って歩いて、最後にお茶とケーキ、なのですが、今日は早めに出てカフェで初めてランチをしてみました。すごく寒いのですが土曜日だからかお天気良いからか、カフェはとても混んでいました。
It was lovely and sunny today so we went to West Dean to walk a little. We usually have lunch at home, then go there, walk and have tea and cake, but we thought we’d give the cafe a try for lunch so we left a little earlier than usual. It was very cold but the cafe was very busy, I guess because it’s a Saturday and sunny.
わたしは、茄子にバターナッツスクウォッシュやキヌアを詰めてトマトソースをかけたものをオーダーしてみました。かなり残念でした。茄子は中身をくり抜いていてその中身は詰め物に使われているかと思えば使われていなくて、残っているところはほとんど火が通っていないので食べられず、何のための茄子なのか。やっぱり、ここではお茶とケーキですね。
I ordered Stuffed Aubergine with butternut squash & quinoa baked in the oven and covered with tomato sauce but this wasn’t nice at all. The aubergine was mostly hollowed and I thought what came out would be added to the stuffing but it wasn’t and what was left on the aubergine was inedible as it was almost raw. I don’t understand the point of using an aubergine. Well, we’ll stick with tea and cake here.
夫はチーズとチャツネのサンドイッチ、パサパサしていると言っていました。見た目も美味しくなさそう。
My husband had Cheese & Chutney Sandwich but apparently it was dry and it looked dry and unappetising.
寒いけれど着込んで行ったこともあり、太陽のおかげでそれほどでもなかったです。でも、風が吹くと顔が寒かった！
We wrapped ourselves well and the sun was out so it wasn’t too bad until the wind hits you on your face.
３０分ほどサクッと歩いて帰って来ました。この時期は見るお花もほとんどありませんが、スノードロップの蕾が少しついていました。
We only walked about 30 minutes. Not much to see this time of year but there were some snow drops coming up.
