Yesterday, before we had lunch, we went to a Japanese Bakery, “Wa”, and bought some bread.

These are the breads we bought – Shokupan (1/2), 2 curry breads, 2 breads with bean paste filling, 1 yakisoba bread & Chicken Katsu sandwiches – £28 altogether.

These are what we had for a supper yesterday – Chicken Katsu sandwich, curry bread & yakisoba-bread.  This is, I think, the 2nd yakisoba-bread in my life because I’m not that fond of it, although it is very popular in Japan.  It wasn’t what I expected, though.  Usually it’s a hot dog bun with a slit in the middle filled with yakisoba, but this one had yakisoba as a filling inside.  The problem was I totally forgot that it usually also has dried fish flakes and tastes a bit fishy and I couldn’t enjoy it.  Even my husband said it was a bit fishy.  This is my problem, not theirs.  Curry bread was also different, usually it’s breaded and deep-fried but this was baked and there was only a little bit of breadcrumbs on top, so it didn’t seem as good as I expected.  Chicken katsu sandwich was delicious, though, very different from what you get from some supermarkets here.  For one, there is no curry flavour, there should not be.  The chicken cutlet is moist and thick and vegetables were crunchy and the bread is fluffy and thick.  I do wish we lived much closer to London.
