今日は２週間に１度の刺繍の集まりがある日でした。いつもはお隣のお友達が車で一緒に連れて行ってくださって連れて帰ってくださるのですが、今足を痛めておられるので、夫に送り迎えをしてもらい、集まりの前に３人でランチをしました。アランデルなので、いつもの「Cockburn’s Tea Rooms」に行きました。いつ行っても結構混んでいるのですが、今日は何故だかとても空いていました、お天気がすごく良いのでみなさんお散歩などを楽しまれているのかも。

There was an embroidery group gathering that runs twice a month.  My next door neighbour friend usually gives me a lift but she hurt her ankle the other day so my husband took us there and picked us up afterwards today, so 3 of us had lunch together at “Cockburn’s Tea Rooms” in Arundel.  This place is almost always quite busy but it was very quiet today, maybe people are out and about because the weather is so lovely.

夫は、スカンピ＆チップス。夫が大好きなパブフード。

My husband had Scampi & Chips, his favourite pub food.

わたしは、アボカドやフムス、ローストした赤パプリカ、サンドライトマトなどが入ったトーストサンド。噛むとツルッと中身が出てきて食べにくかったですが、美味しかったです。

I had a toasted sandwich with avocado, hummus, roasted red pepper, and sun dried tomato.  When I bit into it the filling kept slipping out so it was difficult to eat but quite good.

アールグレーティーといただきました。

I had it with earl grey tea.

ゆっくりとランチをした後、刺繍の集まりに参加しました。今日は、テディーベアーのワークショップがあってほとんどの方達はテディーベアーを作っておられました。わたしも興味がないわけではないのですが、結構難しそうだったので恐れをなして参加せず。参加しなかった数人は、それぞれ各自刺繍をしました。

After enjoying the lunch and chat, my friend and I joined the embroidery group.  Most of the people were at a teddy bear workshop, which was run by one of the members, but there were a few of us who didn’t join the workshop and did our own embroidery at a different table.  It’s not that I’m not interested but it seemed very complicated and fiddly so I didn’t think I could do it well so I didn’t join them.

一度アップしたのですが、羊ちゃんが可愛いこのスケープスティッチ、アップした後でスパンコールを足してみたので、もう一度アップしておきます。

I’ve blogged this ‘stitch-scape’ before but after that I added some sequins so I thought I’d blog it again.  It’s quite cute.

今日は、２つめのスティッチ・スケープを始めました。まだ、布を置いて仮止めをしてほんの少し刺繍をし始めたばかり。苦手なフレンチノットとブイヨンスティッチがたくさんあります。

I started working on my 2nd stitch-scape today.  So far all I did is to cut the pieces of fabric, arrange them on the hoop, sewing them roughly to keep them in places and did just a few stitches.  There are many french knots and bullion knots, which I’m not good at at all, maybe I’ll be much better by the time I finish this project!

戻ってきてしばらくして、そういえばしばらく雨が降ってないので夫にお水を撒いてくれるように頼んで、撒いてくれていた間に少しだけ草抜きをしました。ネトルに刺されて（？）、親指がジンジンしています。手袋もしていて気をつけているのですが、結構な頻度で刺されます。

After we got back, we had tea/coffee with my next door neighbour at home, then I asked my husband to water the pots because it hasn’t rained for a while.  While he was doing that I did a little weeding, too.  My right thumb is hurting from stinging nettles.  I wear gloves and do try very hard to be careful but I still get this often.

そして、今はもう夕方の７時ですが外は昼間の明るさ。空が青くて本当に気持ちが良いです。バーベキューに最適なお天気かも。今日はお昼をしっかりいただいたので（特に夫）、ディナーなし、何か軽く摘むだけにします。

It’s now  7:00pm but it looks like daytime outside, I can see the beautiful blue sky, it’s really lovely weather.  It looks like the best kind of weather to have BBQ.   As we had a big lunch today (specially my husband) we won’t be having dinner, we’ll have something small.
