今朝、予定通りにガーデナーさんが来てくださってお庭のマルチングが終わりました。去年ガーデナーさんにしてもらったらクリスマスローズの茎や葉っぱがすっかりマルチに埋まってしまって掘り返すのが大変だったので、今回は、クリスマスローズが植っているところはしないようにお願いしていたので、午後から残しておいてもらっていたところをわたしがして、ペンステモンが横倒しになって凄いことになっていたのである程度刈り取って（全部刈り取ると冬を越せないのである程度残しています）、落ち葉も少し片付けて、１時間半ほど頑張りました。昨日のガーデニングで今日は脚の筋肉痛を覚悟していましたがそれほどでもなかったので、今日も多分大丈夫、かな。ただ、土壌改良用の土が足りなかったので、夫が追加オーダーしてくれます。

As planned our gardener and his colleague came to do the mulching this morning and they finished it early but I asked them not to do one area – where the Christmas roses are – because last year when they mulched there they buried a lot of stems and leaves of the plants, as well as the base areas, and it was a pain for me to dig them out to save them.  This afternoon I did the mulching myself in that area, as well as cutting back penstemons, which had bent over and were making the are look very untidy  (I didn’t cut them back all the way because they probably wouldn’t survive the winter if cut too short.)  Hopefully I’ll be OK tomorrow, I was OK today after the gardening yesterday.  Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough mulch to finish so my husband is ordering some more, so when that arrives I need to finish it off.

今日の夕食は、昨日たくさん作ったチキンのチリ・コンカーニの残りの一部を使って、ソフトタコスでした。タコスにすると更にビーフではなくチキンでも余り違いはわからなくなって、とても美味しかったです。

Today’s dinner was Soft Tacos using some of the left-over from yesterday’s Chicken Chilli Con Carne.  As there are a lot of other elements it was even less noticeable that the chilli was made of chicken rather than beef and we enjoyed it very much.
