お友達ご夫婦とキャチアップに集まりました。近いうちに集まりましょうとお友達ご夫婦と話した時点で昨日のフランス菓子教室が決まっていたので、今日うちに来ていただいて昨日焼いたケーキを一緒にいただくことにしました。明日から３泊で旅行に出るので昨日と今日で食べてしまわなくてはならず（今回焼いたものは軽くいただるもので、多分２人でも問題なく食べられたとは思いますが）、ちょうど良いタイミングでした。

We met a couple friends for a catch up this afternoon. When we were trying to decide where and when to meet, I already had the baking class fixed on yesterday so we invited them over for tea so we could eat the cakes I baked yesterday.  We are going away for 3 nights from tomorrow, so we would have had to eat all just in two days – I suppose this time it wouldn’t have been a problem because they were both light – but it was good to share them with our friends.

甘いものばかりより何か塩味系もあった方が良いかなと、同じお菓子教室で何ヶ月か前に教えていただいたフィロを使ったリークのキッシュも焼くことにし、今日、お昼頃に焼きました。中が少し緩かったのでもう少し焼いた方が良かったみたいですが、美味しいと召し上がっていただきました。

I thought perhaps it’s nice to have something savoury  as well so I baked the leek quiche with filo pastry that I learned at the baking class some months ago so I baked it around lunch time.  I think I should have left it in the oven a little longer because the inside was quite loose but they said it was delicious.

ちなみに、残っていたフィロペーストリーが少し小さめの幅で６枚あったので、今日は６枚を使いました（レシピはもう少し大きな幅のものを４枚）が上手く仕上がりました。

There were 6 sheets of filo pastry left in the fridge but they were narrower than the recipe, so I used 6 of them (the recipe calls for 4 sheets but wider), they worked well.

 

キャロットケーキは昨日１つ食べたので、３つだけ。お２人で半分ずつシェアーされました。

We had one carrot cake yesterday so only 3 today, our friends shared one between them.

 

 

ファーブルトンは冷たいままいただきましたが、とても美味しかったです。熱々のをデザートにいただくのもきっと美味しいと思います。簡単だったので、近いうちに復習して、今度は熱々をいただこうと思います。

We also had Far Breton cold from the fridge, it was delicious.  I’d love to have it hot from the oven as a dessert, too, so hopefully I’ll bake it again soon, it was quite easy so I think I will.

 

 

良いお天気だったので、お庭でいただくことにしました。でも、ケーキを食べおわた頃太陽が隠れてしまって寒くなったので（お２人とも夏服でいらしていたので日陰では寒かったです、表に出た時は太陽を背中に立つと気持ちの良い暖かさでした）、後は中でお茶を飲みながらおしゃべりの続きをしました。写真はお友達がいらっしゃる前に撮ったものばかり、いらしてからは撮る余裕なしでした。

As it was a beautiful day we decided to sit in the garden but by the time we finished the cakes the sun had gone behind the clouds and it felt cold (both of our friends were wearing light summer clothes so I thought they must be cold) so we went in and continued the chat over tea.  I took all the photos before our friends arrived, I didn’t think of taking photos once they were here.

 

 

 

 

クルーズ旅行が大好きなご夫婦なので、わたしたちのクルーズについても興味深く聞いてくださり（ヴァイキングを勧めてくださったご夫婦）、この先のお２人のご旅行のご予定の話をお聞きしたり、とても楽しいひとときでした。

These friends love cruising and they are the people who recommended Viking to us, so they were interested in our experience from our last cruise so we talked a lot about that and then we also heard about their future cruises they are having in the next few months, too.  We had a lovely chatty afternoon.

 

ずいぶん長く続いているこの良いお天気、そろそろまた崩れて来そう。明日、明後日は良いお天気の予報ですが、水曜日は雨の予報、その後も時々雨が降る予報になっています。長い期間ほとんど雨が降っていないので、そろそろ降ってくれる方が良さそうではあります。

This beautiful weather has been going on for quite a long time but it looks like it’ll finish soon, it’s expected to be good tomorrow and the day after tomorrow but some rain is forecasted on Wednesday and here and there after that.  We hadn’t had much rain for quite a while so I suppose we need some good rain now for the garden.
