昨日の夜は、また The Chichester Jazz Club に予約を入れていました、今回で４度目。これまでは Brasserie Blanc で早い夕食を食べてから行っていたのですが、そう何度も同じメニューでは飽きてしまいますし、他にレストランも思いつかないので、お昼に少ししっかり目に食べておいて夕方は早い時間に家で軽く食べて行こう、ということになりました。お昼前に旅行前最後のネイルをしてもらい、その後、チチェスターの Joanna’s Boutique Tea Rooms でランチをしました、ちょっと久しぶりでした。
We were going to The Chichester Jazz Club last night, it was our 4th time to be there. Until yesterday, we’d had an early dinner at Brasserie Blanc before the Jazz Club but we got tired of the same menu and we couldn’t think of anywhere else, so we decided to have a big lunch and then have something light and easy in the evening before we went out. I had my nails done before lunch, then we went to “Joanna’s Boutique Tea Rooms” for lunch.
夫もわたしもサワドートーストにアボカドとポーチドエッグ（２つ）とトマト、というのをオーダーしました （夫はベーコン追加）。アボカドはマッシュにするかスライスにするか聞いていただいたので、わたしはマッシュ、夫はスライス。ですが、夫はやっぱりマッシュにすれば良かったと言っていました（笑）。というのは、何度も書いていますがイギリスのアボカドは基本あまり美味しくないです、食感も味もすごくあっさりしていてねっとり感もないし味も薄いのです。でも、潰すとねっとり感が出ますし塩胡椒をするとスライスより塩胡椒が全体に行き渡るので少し美味しくなります。
We both had Sourdough Toast with Avocado, Poached Eggs & Tomato (my husband added bacon). They asked us if we wanted mashed or sliced avocado, my husband had sliced and I had mashed but my husband regretted he didn’t havehis mashed. I’ve written this before but avocados in England don’t have very much taste and the texture isn’t very sticky as they should be but if you mash them they do get a little more sticky. Also as you add salt & pepper when mashing the seasoning improves the taste whereas when sliced the seasoning just sits on top.
夜は、冷凍していた人参とコリアンダーのスープとピタパン。
The evening meal was Carrot & Coriander Soup (from the freezer) & Pita Bread.
ジャズクラブに向かっている時、夕焼けがとても綺麗でした。こちらに越してきた当時、まだ今の家に入る前に借りていたニューフォレストのコテージとこの家をしばらく毎日往復していたので、よく夕焼けを見たり虹を見たりしましたが、最近はあまり見る機会がなくなりました。家の中にいるとなかなか見ないんですよね。
When we were driving towards Chichester to go to the Jazz Club, the sky looked beautiful. A few years ago, when we moved to England, before we had properly moved into our house, we were renting a cottage in New Forest and were driving up and down between the cottage and this house and also we were out for various chores and I remember we saw beautiful evening sky and also rainbows quite often, but we don’t often see them these days.
昨日のジャズクラブの演奏はとてもお若い女性ボージャリストとピアノ、ベース、ドラム、サックスの演奏でした。次回は４月半ばなのでわたしたちは行けませんが、また旅行から戻ったら行くつもりです。
The performers at the Chichester Jazz Club yesterday was were a very young vocalist withpiano, bass, drum & sax players. The next live show will be in the middle of April so we’ll miss that, but we will be there again in May after we get back from our holiday.
