今日も朝から雨でしたが、午後２時ごろから晴れ間が見える予報だったので予報を信じてクリスマスツリーを買いに行きました。夫はあまり早くから買いたくない派なのと、早く買うと肝心のクリスマスの頃には乾燥して葉っぱが痩せてしまうので今日まで待っていました。そして、買ったら木の幹の底を２センチほど切って（今日はお店の方が切ってくださって助かりました）お水につけて少なくとも１晩外に置いておかなくてはいけないので雨が降っては困る（家の中に入れたときに家の中が濡れる）ので買った日から翌日午前中は雨が降らないタイミングで購入しなくてはいけなくて、毎日のように雨が降るこの時期は結構それが難しかったりします。
It was raining in the morning quite heavily but the forecast said it would stop raining and the sun would come out around 2:00pm, so trying to believe the forecast, we went out to get our Christmas tree in the afternoon. My husband doesn’t like to buy a tree too early, and also if you buy too early it gets dried out and the leaves would look very dried and thin by Christmas, so we waited until today. We also needed to get the weather right, you need to cut about an inch off the bottom of the trunk, put it in a bucket of water, and keep it outside at least overnight, so we needed it to be dry weather until we put it inside next day because we don’t want to bring a wet tree inside, where it’s carpeted. This I s not so easy where it tends to rain all the time.
こんな風に高さごとに固めて売られていて、自分たちで（お店の人も手伝ってくれます）形を見て「これ」と決めたらお店の人にお願いしてネットをかけていただきます。今日は、２本目に見たツリーが高さも形も良さそうだったので、１分で決まりました。売っている時は枝が全部上に上がっているので持って帰って枝が下がってくると形が思っていたのと違う、なんてこともありますのでそれまでわかりませんが、今日見た感じでは良い感じでした。
Today, we chose the 2nd tree we looked at so it took us only a minute or two to decide. You never know until all the branches come down but it looked like a good shape and good height – hope it is.

明日家の中に入れてセットしますがしばらく予定が入っているので、飾り付けは少し先になるかもしれません。
We’ll bring it inside tomorrow morning but I’m not sure if we’ll have time to decorate it for a little while, we’ll see.
