今日は、久しぶりに眩しいくらい太陽が輝く良いお天気でした。でも、とても長い間雨が多かったので、車で走っているとあちらこちらで洪水を目にしました。そして、昨日からぐんと寒くなり、最低気温０度、昼間の気温３、４度。
It was very bright and sunny today, which hasn’t happened for quite a long time. However, we could see a lot of flooding everywhere when we were driving because of the rain we’ve been having. It has gone quite cold, the lowest temperature is around 0C and it didn’t go higher than around 4C today.
数日良いお天気になるらしいので、今日、やっとチューリップを植えました。ずっと雨が多くてなかなか植えようと思えるお天気にならず。以前にも今頃植えたことがあるのでまだ大丈夫なはず、むしろチューリップは雨が続いたり気温が高めなのは良くないらしいので、大丈夫だと思います。ということで、コンポストを買いにお昼頃に着くタイミングでガーデンセンターに行って来ました。日曜日なので、カフェはとても混んでいました。わたしはいつものグリル野菜のパニーニ、夫はツナのパニーニ。わたしのは美味しかったです（前回はソースがほとんどなかったので味がなくあまり美味しくなかった。）
Apparently it’ll be dry in the next week or so, so we finally got round to planting our tulip bulbs. As the weather has been so bad we hadn’t done that before now. We’ve planted tulip bulbs around this time of year before and it was fine, I’m told that tulip bulbs can get rotten or mouldy if it’s too wet or the temperature isn’t low enough, so hopefully they’ll be OK. We needed more compost so we went to a garden centre around lunch time, I had my usual grilled vegetable panini and my husband had tuna panini. Mine was quite nice, I remember it wasn’t good when we were there last time because it hardly had any sauce and without the sauce there was no flavour because they don’t seem to grill vegetables with seasoning.
戻ってきて、早速チューリップの球根を植えました。大きなポットに４つと中くらいのに２つ、小さなのに１つ。こういう作業はいつも思っているより時間がかかり、２時間半ほどかかりました。ちなみに、チューリップを植えただけではなく、ちょっと前にガーデナーさんがマルチングをしてくれた時に埋めてしまったクリスマスローズを掘り起こしたりもしました、埋められてしまった大きな葉っぱがたくさんあって、やはりダメになっていました。根本を埋めてしまっているので蕾も土の中でした。マルチングは根本を全部埋めてはダメなのに（涙）。気温が低い上に風も結構あって、寒かったです。そして、お決まりの筋肉痛、既に感じているので多分明日は痛い。
As soon as we got back, we planted tulip bulbs in 4 large pots, 2 medium size pots and 1 small pot. This sort of work always takes much longer than we think, it took as about 2 and a half hours as we had to take out some of the old soil from the pots as well. I also had to dig up the bases and some stems with leaves of Christmas roses because our gardener buried quite a large parts of them when he did mulching, this is so annoying, doesn’t he know he shouldn’t do that? As the temperature was low and there was quite a bit of breeze it was cold. I can already feel my legs slightly aching, I guess I’ll suffer tomorrow.
