ヴァイキングのクルーズには少なくとも1か所港につき1つのエクスカーション（ツアー）が含まれていて、他に有料のツアーに参加することも出来ます。ヴァイキング以外のツアーに参加することももちろん可能ですが、万が一何かの事情で船の出発時刻に遅れてしまうと待ってもらえませんし、自力で次の港まで行かなくてはいけないので、わたしたちは今回はヴァイキングのエクスカーションにだけ申し込んでいます。
Viking Cruises include at least one excursion per port as well as other paid ones. Of course you can also take a tour run by other companies but if you do and something happens and you are late to the ship they will not wait for you and you need to make your own arrangement to get to the next port to catch up (although I saw many tour companies that guarantee to put you back to the ship in time and if not they’ll take you to the next port). As this is our first cruise we decided to stick with Viking tours.
今日は、朝8時から4時間余りのバルセロナの主な観光地を周る無料ツアーに参加しました。ほとんどがバスの中からの見学で、2か所だけバスを降りて観光案内があります。各自、事前にヘッドセットが配られるので充電しておいて、エクスカーションに参加するときはそのヘッドセットを通じてガイドさんの案内を聴く、というシステムです。わたしたちはこれまで個人ツアーに参加したことはありますが、観光のグループツアーに参加するのは初めてのこと。正直あまり好みの観光方法ではありませんが、このクルーズでは多くの観光地を回るので個人ツアーに申し込むと金額的にもかなり嵩んでしまいますし、先ほども書いたように船に遅れると大変なのでグループツアーに参加することにしました。多いときは30名ほどいるようですが、今はまだハイシーズンではないので15人ほどでした。そして、ヘッドセットがあるのでガイドさんも大声で案内はしませんし、多少離れていても問題ないのでそれほど恥ずかしくは感じませんでした。
Today, we joined a free excursion “Iconic Barcelona”, which started at 8:00 and lasted about 4 hours. You see the main tourist spots mostly from inside the coach but get off at two places and a guide will take you around and give explanations about various sights. We’d never joined any group sight-seeing tours before because it’s not the way we like to go around, but as I wrote, this is our first time to be on a cruise so we are playing it safe. I’ve read that at their peak groups can be up to 30 people but it’s not a busy time yet and our group was only about 15. You are given a headset, which you charge in advance and take with you so you can listen to the guide. As you have a headset, the guide doesn’t have to talk very loudly, you don’t need to be sticking with the guide all the time and the group was relatively small so it didn’t feel too embarrassing.
たくさんの写真を撮りましたが持って来ているiPadで大量の写真の編集をするのは大変なので、数枚だけアップしておいて、他の写真はイギリスに帰ってからアップしようと思います。
I took a huge number of photos on this excursion, but it is too much work to edit so many photos on an iPad. So I’ll blog just a few photos now and blog more photos once we get back to England.
市内の主だった建物などをバスで回ってバスの中で案内を聞いた後、サグラダ・ファミリアから歩いて10分ちょっとのところでバスから降りて、案内を聞きながらサグラダ・ファミリアまでゆっくりと歩き、サグラダ・ファミリアでは外部から4つある面それぞれを見ながら案内を聞きました。まだアップはしていませんが、バルセロナに着いた翌日、サグラダ・ファミリアに入り、グループですがサグラダ・ファミリアのガイドさんに中と外を案内してもらったのですが、今回はほとんど外側についての案内で、先日伺った説明以外の説明もたくさんあったので、重複して退屈ということはありませんでした。
After being taken on a coach to various tourist spots/buildings, you get off near Sagrada Familia (about 10 minutes walk), walk to Sagrada Familia and walk around the building from outside the gates and listen to the guide. We did take a guided group tour run by Sagrada Familia when we visited the place on the day after we arrived in Barcelona but today’s guide gave us quite a bit of different information as well, and there was enough new information so we didn’t find it boring.
サグラダ・ファミリアでは1時間ほどの説明があり、その後20分ほどの自由時間があったので、大好きなスペインのヌガー（カリカリのアーモンドのヌガー）でヌガーを買って、隣のパン屋さんでわたしはアーモンドとチョコレートのクロワッサン、夫はパン・オー・ショコラとコーヒーで遅い朝食にしました。サクサク、フレッシュで美味しかったです！因みに、イギリス（ロンドンでも）に比べてバルセロナには数えきれないくらいたくさん、パン屋さんがあります。美味しそうなパンがたくさん並んでいて、色々トライしてみたくなりますが、胃が「無理！」というので諦めました。
At Sagrada Familia, we walked around for about an hour with the guide explaining things, then had a 20 minutes or so of a break. We bought Torrone (crunchy almond nougat that I love), then had a late breakfast. I had almond and chocolate croissant and my husband had pain au chocolat with coffee. Very fresh and lovely. Incidentally, comparing to England (even London), there are uncountable number of bakeries in Barcelona, they have all sorts of yummy looking bread/pastries/cakes, I wish we could try more but our stomachs are saying “not possible”.
その後、ゴシッククォーターまでバスで行き、ゴシッククォーターをガイドさんの説明をききながら1時間ほど歩き、バスに戻って、船まで。市内に残りたい人は残って各自で船に戻ることもできますが、わたしたちは良い具合に疲れていたので戻ることにしました。
We were then taken to the Gothic Quarter of the city by the coach. We walked in the area for an hour or so with the guide, then went back to the coach, which brought us back to the ship. If you would like to, you can stay in the city and get back to the ship on your own when you want, but we felt we’d had enough walking so came back.
