ブログが数日前からブログが1、2日遅れ気味で、スプリットは一昨日の寄港地で、昨日のお昼頃に最終寄港地のベニスに到着し、実は今日、もう下船してベニスのホテルに来ています。

I have been a little behind with my blog, we were in Split on the day before, got to Venice yesterday and we’ve disembarked the ship already and are actually in a hotel in Venice.

ベニスと書きましたが、実際は、「Chioggia」（キオッジャ）という街でベニスまではボートで1時間半ほどかかります。以前はベニスに寄港したいたのですが建物へのダメージが大きいということで最近ではベニスには入れなくなっているのです。事前に色々と考えていた時はせっかくベニスに着くことだしと思い、ベニスを自分たちで歩くというエクスカーションに申し込んでいたのですが、ベニスのホテルに2泊しますし、午後から往復3時間もかけて行くのは疲れてしまいそうだったのでキャンセルして、キオッジャという寄港していた街を歩くことにしました。

I wrote “Venice” but the port was actually a town called “Chioggia”, from where it takes about an hour and a half by boat to Venice. Cruise ships used to go in Venice but they were damaging the buildings so they are not allowed to go in now. When we were making plans, I thought we would take the excursion of walking Venice on our own because it seemed like an obvious thing to do, but we thought we may get too tired when you need to be on a boat for 3 hours in total just to get to Venice and back. We were going to be in Venice itself for 2 more days anyway, so it didn’t seem worth making such a journey – so we cancelled it and walked in Chioggia on our own instead.

ベニスに着いたのはお昼頃で、エクスカーションに参加しない場合は下船できる時間は2時以降ということだったので、まずは、船内でランチをしました。これもまた、船の食事は飽きていたので外ですることも考えたのですが、下船出来る時間が2時と遅かったですしレストランを探すのも面倒になって船で済ませることにして、ワールドカフェでサラダやハム、サラミ類をランチにしました。

We didn’t arrive in Chioggia until around lunch time and we were not allowed to get off the ship until 2:00pm unless we were taking an excursion, so we had lunch on the ship. We did think about having lunch in Chioggia but it would have been a late lunch and we felt too lazy to research restaurants in the town – so we ended up having ham, salami, and salad at World Cafe.

そして、2時に下船し、船のシャトルでキオッジャに出て、ブラブラと歩き、たまたまネットで地元の方がオススメのキオッジャのすごく美味しいジェラート屋さんというブログ記事を見かけたので行って見ることにしました。これが結構遠くて、キオッジャの街中から20分くらい歩きました。一昨日もでしたが昨日もかんかん照りで、ほとんど影がないところだったので暑いこと。この日も、たくさん、軽いダウンコートを着ている人を見かけました。

We got off the ship, took the Viking’s shuttle bus to Chioggia, walked around, then went to this ‘specially delicious Gelateria that the local people recommend’ that I saw on a Japanese blog. It was quite far, about 20 minutes from the city centre. Just like the day before yesterday, it was very sunny,the sun was very strong and there wasn’t much shady area to walk and I got so hot! Again, we saw many local people walking in light down jackets.

なかなか素敵な街でした。しかし、暑かった。

It was quite a nice town. Very hot, though.

ジェラートを求めて往復40分くらい歩いたので、寝るまでに11,８００歩、ほど歩きました。

I walked 11,800 steps before going to bed because we walked about 40 minutes up and down for the gelato!
