月曜日は、遠出はせず、アップルドアの街までぶらぶらと歩いて、デリでランチをして、またぶらぶらと家に戻り、家では本を読んだりして過ごしました。甥っ子はこの日は仕事をしていて、奥さんは赤ちゃんを連れてぶらっと外に歩いて出たり、それぞれ好きな様に過ごした１日でした。
On Monday, we didn’t go out anywhere further but into Appledore town. We walked to the town, had a light lunch at a deli, then walked back to the house and spent the rest of the day reading a book etc. Our nephew was working and his wife had a stroll to the town with their baby, too.
借りていた家からアップルドアの街まではぶらぶらゆっくり歩いて１５分程度で、土日ほど暑くなかったので気持ちよく歩ける距離でした。ただ、かなり湿気が多くて蒸し暑くはありました、イギリスであれほどの蒸し暑い気候を経験したのは初めてでした。そして、書き忘れていましたが、土曜日に少しアップルドアー街を歩いた時はすごくたくさんの方達がおられてびっくりしました。アップルドアは聞いたことがなかった街だったので、それほどに人気な街とは知らず。
The location of the house was great, it took only about 15 minutes to the town walking slowly, it wasn’t as hot as on Saturday and Sunday so it was pleasant enough to walk – although I remember it was very humid, the most humid weather I’ve experienced in England. I’d also forgotten to write that the little town was very very busy on Saturday. We’d never heard of Appledore so we didn’t know how popular the town is.
小さな街ですが、小道を歩くと綺麗な色の壁のお家が並んていて、とても可愛い街でした。
It is a very small town but the little streets of colourful houses looked very pretty.
この、Johns というデリでランチ。ランチも美味しかったですし、デリには色々なおいしそうなものが置かれていました。
We had lunch at this deli ,”Johns”. The lunch was good and they had a lot of tasty looking things in the deli shop.
デリの前の郵便ポストのトッパー。今年５月でライフボート・ステーションが出来て２００年になったお祝いのトッパーです。
The post box, which was in front of the deli, had this topper – they had the 200 years celebration of the local lifeboat station in May this year.
