明日はお友達をお招きして、ささやかなクリスマスパーティーです。去年は予定より１ヶ月も日本滞在が延びたのでそんな余裕はなかったですが、一昨年は結構たくさんのお友達と集まりました。そのときのメンバーの数人はもう日本に帰られたりイギリスに行かれたりフランスに行かれたり。。。駐在生活は、出会いとお別れの繰り返しです。

本当なら前日にテーブルを用意しておきたいのですが、大抵夫との夕食があるのでそういうわけにも行かず、頭の中でどんな感じにしようかなんとなくイメージだけしておいて朝になってからテーブルの用意をします。今日は夫の夕食がいらないので（でも、忘れて作ってしまいました。。。涙）、一度明日のテーブルを作ってみました。埃が心配なので出したままにはしませんが、お皿やナプキンを並べてちょっと飾りもおいて予行演習。あまりあれこれ飾るのは好きではないのでシンプルですが、それでもイメージしていたのと違うこともあるので並べてみると安心できます。これで１つストレスが減って気持ちが少し楽になりました。

I’m hosting a Christmas gathering tomorrow.  I wasn’t able to host one last year because I had to stay in Japan a month longer than planned but the year before I hosted a party with quite a few friends – and a few of them are not in Singapore any more…

Usually, we use the dining table for dinner so I cannot do anything until the morning but my husband didn’t need dinner at home today so I prepared the table (I don’t want to leave the plates out overnight so I put them away but I put them on the table to see what the table looks like) today.  This way, I don’t need to worry if my plan will work well or not tomorrow morning when I have cooking to do as well.

 

 

お花を遠くまで買いに出る時間がなかったので、新しい（わたしにとって、ですが）お花屋さんにトライしてみました。クリスマスらしくはないですけど。。。

I tried a new flower shop yesterday. I like their style although it’s not very Christmassey.
