サファリでは、よく、「ビッグ・ファイブ」と言いますよね。歩いてする狩猟で仕留めるのが難しい５種類と言われていて、ライオン、豹、サイ、ゾウ、ケープ・バッファローのことだそうです。サファリに行くと皆さんビッグファイブ、ビッグファイブとおっしゃるのですが、わたしはそれほどには拘っていませんでした。２泊しかしませんし、軽くサファリの経験が出来れば満足という気持ちでいたので。でも、やはり見れると嬉しいもので、２日目の午後からのサファリでバッファローも見ることが出来たので、ビッグファイブを全部見ることが出来ました。ガイドさんもやはりお客さんにビッグファイブを見せたいと思われていて、全部見せることが出来て嬉しそうな様子でした。

We hear “Big Five” very often and they are : lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo.  They are supposed to be the hardest ones to hunt on foot.  To be honest, I was happy just to have a safari experience, I thought it didn’t matter too much if we don’t see all the Big Five as we are there only for 2 nights.  However, we were lucky enough to see them all before the end of the 2nd day as we saw the last one – buffalos.  I think the guide tried hard to show us all of them and he seemed very happy that he managed it.
