シカゴからお友達ご夫婦が来星されているので、夫と一緒に夕食をご一緒してきました。お２人のリクエストで、インド料理のMustardで。シンガポールにお住いだったときにインドご出身のご主人さまがお好きなレストランということでご紹介いただいたレストランです。以来、わたしたちもインド料理というと大抵こちらに伺っています。

My husband and I had dinner with our friends, who are visiting from Chicago, we went to Mustard (Indian) on their request.  This is the restaurant my friend’s husband, who is from India, recommended to us a few years ago, so we’ve been going here whenever we want to have Indian food.

オーダーはカリフラワーのロースト（わたしのリクエスト）とバターチキン（夫のリクエスト）をリクエストしましたが、他はご主人様にお任せしました。わたしたちのリクエストの他に、マトンカレー（わたしはいただきませんが）とオクラのカレー、ハンカチロティとクルチャ（２種類）をオーダー。

We requested Roasted Cauliflower (my request) and Butter Chicken (my husband’s request) but left the rest of the order to our friend.  He ordered Mutton curry and Okra curry, handkerchief Roti & 2 kinds of stuffed naan.

全部食べきりました！ちょうど良い量だったと思います。どれも美味しくいただきました。

We finished everything so the quantity must’ve been just right, it was all very good.

ただ運悪く、総勢１４人の男性たちのグループが入って来られ、それはそれは声が大きく、わたしたちは自分の声も聞こえないくらい。狭い店内ですので逃げるところもありません。自分たちがあちら側の立場になることもあるわけなので仕方のないことなのですが、とっても疲れました。そんなわけで食事中はほとんど会話ができなかったので、食べ終わったらすぐに出てうちで少し飲むことにしました。少しの時間でしたが、ご一緒できて嬉しかったです。

Unfortunately, there was a large group of men (14 of them), at a long table right next to us who were talking very loudly – often shouting actually – so we could hardly hear our own voices.  The restaurant is quite small so there isn’t anywhere to go to.  We can be in their position, too, so we cannot really complain but we felt very tired from trying to shout to each other and also from the noise.  As we wanted to have some sort of normal conversation, we decided not to linger after we finished the dinner and come back to our place to continue the conversation and drink a little drink.  It was great to be able to spend an evening together and catch up with each other.
