ケンブリッジからはコルチェスターの近くのお友達ご夫婦のお家に向かったのですが、まず、朝一で先日書いたケーキ屋さんでケーキを購入してから、Youtube Mizue’s Kitchen の動画で紹介されていたので気になっていたアンティークショップ２件に立ち寄ることにしました。お友達のお家に伺うことが決まったときにアンティークショップのことを思い出したので、ケンブリッジに宿泊することに決めたのでした。
From Cambridge, we drove to our friends’ near Colchester, but we first bought some cakes to take with us from the patisserie near the hotel I wrote about the other day, then we visited 2 antique shops on our way. When we knew we would be staying with our friends, I remembered these antique shops I saw on videos on Mizue’s Kitchen youtube channel and we decided to stay in Cambridge so we could visit them on our way.
アンティークにはそれほど興味はないのですが、レトロなティーカップ、ソーサー、ケーキ皿のセット（トリオ）をいくつか欲しいと思っているので、気にいるものがあれば良いなと思って行ってみました。
I’m not that interested in antiques but I’ve been wanting to get some retro tea cup/saucer/cake sets so I can use them at home ourselves as well as for a tea party.
１件目は、Risby Barn Antique Centre。茅葺屋根の建物の中にたくさんの小さなブースがあって、外にも１、２軒小さなアンティークショップがありました。
The first place we went to was Risby Barn Antique centre. The building with a thatched roof is quite large inside and there were a lot of different booths of antique shops inside. There were one or two more shops outside this building as well.
敷地内には、The Nook というカフェがあり、ここでランチをしました。
In the grounds, there was a cafe “The Nook”, where we had lunch.
夫は、イングリッシュ・ブレックファースト（小さな方のサイズ）。
My husband had a ‘small’ English Breakfast.
わたしは、ソーセージサンド（食べかけで失礼します）。
I had sausage sandwich (forgot to take a photo and started to eat…then remembered).
もう１軒は、ここから３０分ほどのところにある、The Shed。
The other place was The Shed, which was about 30 minutes from the above.
外から見たよりも中は広くて、レトロなカフェもあり、ここでお茶をしました。
This was also larger inside than it looked and had a retro cafe, where we had tea.
ネズミの形のホワイトチョコレートがついて来ました。
They serve tea with a white chocolate mice, which was a nice touch.
結局何も購入しませんでしたが、シルバーのカトラリーやシルバーのティーセット、ティーカップ、などなど、色々見て歩くのは楽しかったです。夫は気が乗らない感じでしたが、結構楽しんでいました。ただ、特に最初の Risby Barn Antique Centre はドアも開けっぱなしですし暖房もなく、とてもとても寒かったです！外と同じくらい寒いので、寒い時期は暖かい格好で行かなくては、見て回るのは無理。２軒目の方はドアは閉まっていましたし暖房もしてありました。
After all we didn’t find anything we really wanted so didn’t buy anything, but it was fun to look at silver cutleries, silver tea sets, tea cups etc. My husband wasn’t very keen but he was also enjoying himself. However, the places were cold, specially Risby Barn Antique Centre had all the doors open and there was no heating inside so it was very cold, as cold as the outside, so you do need to wear very warm clothes to be able to spend any time there. The second place had their door closed and had some heating so it wasn’t too bad.
