船を降りて、荷物をピックアップして、ホテルまでのボートの手前で荷物を預け、ボートに乗り込みます。ホテルは、JWマリオットホテルで、1つの島全体がホテルになっています。ボートにはホテルの係の方たちがおられ、ホテルからのシャトルボートの説明や少しベニスについての案内などを受けました。ホテルまでは1時間半ほど。

So we got off our cruise ship and got onto the transfer boat to our hotel which is on an island just outside of Venice. On the transfer boat here were people from the hotel, who gave us some guide about the shuttle boats between the hotel and San Marco and also a little background about Venice. It was about an hour and a half to the hotel.

多分、ボートには100人ほど乗っていたかと思います。ボートを降りて、ホテルでチェックインするわけですが、ここが結構カオスでした。チェックインデスクは多分3つあったと思いますが、50組くらいあるので長蛇の列でなかなか進みません。長い間待つのが嫌でしばらく座って空いてからチェックインしようとのんびりと座っていたのですが、しばらくすると次のボートが着いたので（同じクルーズから2つボートが出ていたようです）、慌てて夫が並んでくれて、15分後くらいでしょうか、やっとチェックイン。多分、ホテルに着いてから30分くらい経っていたと思います。お部屋に入れるのは3時ごろとのことだったので、（ボートに乗る時に預けたスーツケースは直接お部屋に運んでいただけました）手荷物を預け（夫はiPadや前日着ていたものや洗面道具など色々入った重いリュックを背負っていたのでそれを預け、わたしも入りきれず持っていたジャケットを預けました）、丁度お昼だったのでホテルのデリでサンドイッチを食べて腹ごしらえをしました。

I think there were probably about 100 people on the boat. After getting off we needed to do check-in at the hotel reception and this was a bit chaotic. I think there were 3 check in desks but there were 50 couples or so and the queue was very long and we got fed up with queing so thought we’d wait sitting in the lounge and check in when the queue is much shorter. However, after a little while, another boatfull of people arrived! (This was also Viking people). So my husband hurridly queued before they started joining. I guess he queued for maybe 15 minutes or so, so in total we probably waited for longer than 30 minutes. After we checked in, we left our hand luggage with the staff (the suitcases were taken to the room directly but my husband was carrying a heavy rucksack full of things like what we were wearing on the day before, wash bags, iPad etc and I was carrying a jacket), and went to the deli in the hotel for a quick lunch.

わたしはバゲットの生ハム、トマト、モッツァレラのサンド、オットはカプレーゼサンド。これがとても美味しくてびっくり。多分お塩はしていないのですが生ハムの塩気で丁度良い具合、そしてバゲットがまた香ばしくて美味しい！が、しかし、15ユーロ（2460円、13ポンド）というお値段に2度びっくり。さすがは、ベニス、なお値段でした。

I had a Parma Ham, tomato & mozzarella baguette sandwich and my husband had a caprese sandwich. My sandwich was surprisingly delicious, probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve had. I don’t think there was any seasoning done but the ham gave enough. The bread was really delicous, too! However, it was surprisingly expensive, too. 15 Euro (£13)!! Wow! Only in Venice! It was really good, though.

After lunch we took the hotel shuttle boat to San Marco and mooched around .
