今、空港で荷物を預けられる時間まで待っているところです。ホテルからボートとタクシーで空港まで来るのですが、バイキングのアレンジで、最初丁度フライトの時間に良かった4時45分出発だったのがその後変更になり（早く出発する方達に合わせた模様）、3時出発になりました。なので夜8時のフライトのわたしたちには早く空港に着きすぎてしまい、時間待ち中です。

We are currently at the airport in Venice waiting for the time when we can check in our luggage. We came from the hotel part of the way on a boat and then taxi arranged by Viking. They had originally told us that we’d be leaving the hotel at 4:45pm but it was later changed to 3:00pm. I think they combined us with and some other passengers with earlier flights to save the cost. So we arrived much too early for our 8:45pm flight, we have to wait 2 hours before we can check in our luggage.

ベニスの旅行記に戻ります。ホテルでランチをした後、ホテルのシャトルボートでサン・マルコ広場に出て、ぶらぶらと適当に歩きました。特にこれと言って目的もなく、観光名所は昔来た時に行ったのでもういいかな、という気分なのです。昨日もとても暑くて、気温は24度くらいだったようにお天気予報にはなっていましたが、28度くらいに感じました、多分湿気が結構あるのだと思います。一昨日は土曜日でお天気も良かったのでいつもにも増して人が多く、昔、まだまだ観光客が少なかった頃に来てあちらこちら見ておいて良かったなぁと思いました。

Back to Venice on our first day here. After lunch at the hotel, we took the hotel’s shuttle boat to San Marco and mooched around. We had nowhere we particularly wanted to go, we weren’t going to any special tourist places (though the whole of Venice is basically a tourist place), we visited those sort of places when we were here many many years ago and we don’t feel the need to re-visit them. It was very hot on the day before yesterday, the weather report said 24C but it felt more like 28C, maybe because it’s a bit humid in Venice. With such good weather and being on a weekend, it was even busier than usual. Every time when this happens, we feel glad that we visited many touristy places when we first travelled together before tourism got this extreme. Venice seemed much less crowded 30 years ago.

途中、ジェラート休憩を挟んで3時間くらいぶらぶらしてホテルに戻り、夕食の時間まで休憩（わたしはブログ）しました。ホテル全体が1つの島というと良い感じですが、外出のたびにホテルのシャトルに乗らなくてはいけなくて、ホテルのシャトルは30分おき、サンマルコ広場まで20分かかるので不便でした。

We had a gelato at one point and had a little rest but I guess we were out for about 3 hours. We then went back to the hotel, had a rest (I did my blog) until it was time to go out again for dinner. It sounds luxarious to stay at a hotel which occupies a whole island in the Venice lagoon, but it was a little inconveninet because the shuttle boat runs only every 30 minute and it takes 20 minutes from the hotel to San Marco.
