今日も、良いお天気！また、ミニヒートウェーブが来ているらしくて、火曜日はここも２７度まで上がる予報。一昨日お天気予報を見るとこの先２週間雨マークが全然なくてわーいと思っていたのですが、その数時間後には１つ曇りと晴れと雨が一緒になったマークが１つ現れ、その数時間後に更にまた１つ、今は３分の１くらいがそのマークになってます（笑）。ぬか喜びだったみたいです。

It was very nice weather again today.  It looks like we are having another mini heatwave.  It was a bit cool today but it’s expected to get as hot as 27C on Tuesday, hot only for one day, though.  When I checked the weather forecast on the day before yesterday, there was no rain mark for the next 2 weeks, which made me feel very happy.  However a few hours later, I saw one mark with cloud, sun and rain, then another one appeared a few hours later and now 1/3 of the next two weeks has that mark with rain.

今日は土曜日なので夫がディナー担当なのですが、昨日の夜遅くに「あっ！」と気づきどうしようということになったので、わたしの提案でバーベキューでステーキを焼いてステーキサラダにしよう、ということになりました。他に、とうもろこし、ポテトサラダ、カプレーゼ、冷凍で買っていた市販のオリーブオイルとガーリックのフラットブレッド。ステーキは、わたしがいつものマリネにしておき、夫が低温調理をしてくれたものをバーベキューで焼いたもの。ロケット、玉ねぎ、トマトと混ぜてレモン汁とオリーブオイルのシンプルなドレッシングで和えただけ。ポテトサラダは、赤玉ねぎとコルニションのみじん切りと合わせてレモン汁とオリーブオイルで和えたもの。マヨネーズで和えたポテトサラダも好きですが、このさっぱりしたレモン風味のポテトサラダも大好きです。

It’s a Saturday today, so my husband is supposed to be in charge of dinner.  However, we didn’t realise it until very late last night and my husband was a bit panicking about what to cook so I suggested to do BBQ – cook one steak and use it for a salad and make a couple of other salads.  My husband cooked the steak in Anova (low temperature water bath cooking equipment) then barbecued it to sear the outside and I made a quick salad with rocket, onion, tomato, lemon juice and olive oil.  He also barbecued some sweetcorn’s.  I made a potato salad – not the one with mayonnaise but with chopped red onion, cornichon, lemon juice and olive oil.  Although I love potato salad with mayonnaise I also love this particular potato salad.  The key is to season the potatoes with lemon juice, olive oil, salt & pepper while they are still hot.  I also made a Caprese Salad.  We found frozen Olive Oil & Garlic Flat Bread so we had it with the rest.

そして、デザートにバナナにチョコレートを挟んでアルミフォイルで包んで焼いたもの。

お天気は、晴れ時々曇りで、丁度バーベキューをしているときに広範囲に雲が広がっていてお天気予報では雨の予報ではなかったのですが、今にも雨が降りそうで心配でした。途中、一瞬ぱらっとした気がしましたが、それだけで、無事、雨なしの夕食が出来ました。　来週も比較的お天気が良さそうなので、まだ何度かバーベキューが出来るかもしれません。日本は１１月でもバーベキューが出来そうですが、イギリスはやはり９月以降は夜は寒すぎるので、今のうちです。

The weather was sometimes very cloudy and sometimes sunny, but while we were having the BBQ it was very cloudy in a large area.  The forecast didn’t show any possibility of rain this evening but it looked as if it could start to rain any time so we were a little worried.  I thought I felt a few drops at one point but that was all, fortunately it didn’t actually rain.  The weather looks mostly good in the next one week, so maybe we can have BBQ a couple of more times.  In Japan it’s warm enough even in November to do BBQ but here by September it’s too cold in the evening, so we should enjoy it while we can.
