昨日は、お芝居を見に行く前にチチェスターの Brasserie Blanc で早めの夕食をしました。

We had an early dinner at Brasserie Blanc in Chichester before the play yesterday.

義弟夫婦は、プラムのピクルスとトマトのサラダ。プラムはかなり酸っぱかったみたいです。

My brother-in-law and his wife had Pickled Plum & Tomato Salad, I think they said it was very ‘zingy’ so I probably wouldn’t have liked it as I cannot take a lot of sour food.

 

わたしは、コーンチャウダー。クリームたっぷりだと嫌だなと思っていましたが、結構あっさりとしていて美味しかったです。

I had Sweet Corn Chowder.  I was a bit worried if it would be full of cream but it wasn’t, it was creamy from the sweet corns but didn’t have much added cream if any, very tasty.

 

夫は、トラウト。

My husband had Trout.

メイン。義妹は、プレイス。

Then the mains.  My sister-in-law had Plaice.

義弟はステーキ＆チップス。

My brother-in-law had Steak & Chips.

 

夫は、ニョッキ。ヘルシーなメインを選んだつもりが、ニョッキはパン粉をつけて揚げてあるし、ソースは思いっきりクリームだし（笑）。

My husband had gnocchi.  He thought he chose a healthy dish but the gnocchi were breaded and deep (or shallow) fried and the sauce was very creamy.

 

わたしは、ペンネのトマトソース、ズッキーニとセロリアックとチーズのせ。トマトソースは缶トマトをブレンダーにかけて少し火を入れた感じのもので普通にいただけましたが、パスタがこれまで食べたことがないくらい茹ですぎていて酷かった（涙）。時間があれば茹で直してもらったのですがお芝居の時間があったので、お店にはクレームしませんでした。

I had Penne with tomato sauce with courgette, celeriac and cheese.  The tomato sauce was OK, I guess they blended tin tomato and cooked it for a short time, but the penne was way, way overcooked, I don’t think I’ve ever had pasta that overcooked before, at least as long as I can remember, it was like baby food and had almost gone to mush.  If I’d had time I would have asked them to cook the pasta again but we didn’t because of the play so I didn’t tell the staff.

 

義弟夫婦はデザートに、ブラックカラントムースをシェアー。

My brother-in-law & his wife shared Blackcurrant Mousse.

わたしと夫は、ダークチョコレート・マーキーズ。コッテリしているかと思ったのですが、案外さっぱりしていて美味しかったです。

My husband and I shared Dark Chocolate Marquise.  I thought it would be heavy but it wasn’t, it was surprisingly light and very nice.
