Mediterranean Cruising Holiday / Day 6 / Corfu

クルーズ６日目の今日は、ギリシャのコルフ島に着きました。コルフ島に来るのは3度目、1度目は去年の４月のクルーズで、そして１０月にビーチリゾートと旧市街とに泊まりました。ギリシャというよりイタリアっぽい街です。去年のクルーズで来た時に、旧市街を歩くツアーに参加したので、今回はワイナリーでワインをいただくというツアーに参加。訪れたワイナリーは、Theotoky （セオトキー）というワイナリーで映画「007 ユア・アイズ・オンワン」でジェイムス・ボンドがレストランで食事をする時にオーダーをするワインとして有名になったらしいです。

Day 6 of the cruise is in Corfu in Greece. This is our 3rd time to be here, the first time was when we came on our first cruise we took in April last year, then we came back to a beach resort and also a short stay in the old town. When we were here for the first time we took an excursion to walk in the old town so this time we took an excursion to visit a winery and wine tasting. The winery we visited was “Theotoky”, which apparently became famous because James Bond in “OO7 Your Eyes Only” ordered their wine at a restaurant.

ワイナリーは山の中にあるので細いクネクネ道をバスで行くので、かなりな迫力ですが、今日は青空が広がる素晴らしいお天気だったので景色も素晴らしかったです。残念ながらわたしは通路側に座っていたので、景色の写真は撮れませんでした。夫が撮ってくれたのは、オリーブの木がある景色1枚。

The winery is in a mountain so we were taken there by bus along a very narrow and wiggly road, which was sometimes a little scary but let us have fantastic views as we the weather has been so beautiful. Unfortunately, no photos except one that my husband took because I didn’t sit at the window.

ワイナリーでは担当の方から歴史や製法などについての説明があり、パン、サラミ、フェタチーズ（自家製）、トマトサラダ、オリーブオイル（最新の機械で作られるエクストラバージンオリーブオイル）と一緒に白ワイン2種類をいただきました。

At the winery they gave us a talk on the history of the family & the winery and the method of producing wine, then we at at a table and enjoyed some bread, salami, feta cheese (homemade), tomato salad, olive oil (extra virgin olive oil produced with the latest machine to reduce the acidity to the lowest possible) and 2 kinds of white wine.

ワインテイスティングの後は、山の頂上付近にある展望場とカフェに立ち寄って、素晴らしい景色を楽しみながら、夫はカプチーノ、わたしはフレッシュ・オレンジジュース（とても美味しかったです）をいただきました。

After the wine tasting, we were taken to a view point and a cafe almost on top of the mountain so we can admire the view with drinks (my husband had Cappucino and I had fresh orange juice).

カフェから船までは1時間くらいのドライブでした。この時は、わたしが窓際に座ったので景色の写真も撮りました。始終とても素晴らしい景色でしたが、写真では実物の素晴らしさがなかなか伝わりませんし、バスのガラス窓には加工がされていて色がパープルっぽく写ってしまっているのが残念。

From the cafe to the ship it was about an hour’s drive. This time I sat at the window so I did take many photos and the views were beautiful but sadly photos can never show how beautiful they were and the windows of the bus had some sort of coating so all the photos came out in purple hue.

船に戻ったのは2時ごろ。そのまま、ビュッフェレストランに直行して遅いランチにサンドイッチとサラダとフルーツサラダをいただきました。前回のクルーズであまりサラダが食べられなかったのは、朝早いツアーに参加して、そのまま街中でランチを食べ、船では主に夕食しか食べなかったからだと思います。ランチタイムにはそこそこサラダが用意されてました。夕食にもサラダのチョイスがあると有難いのに。

We got back on the ship around 2:00pm, we went straight to the buffet restaurant and had a late lunch – sandwiches and salads and fruit salad. We couldn’t find salads when we were on the cruise last year, now I realise, because we would take an early excursion and have lunch in the town, we had mostly dinner only on the ship. They do have some salad option available for lunch – although it would be so good if they could provide salads in the evening, too.
