今日も昼間は良いお天気で室内は暑いくらいでしたが、外の気温は最高２２度、風も強くて少し寒く感じるくらいでした。

It was nice and sunny during the day and it felt quite warm inside but the temperature outside was 22C highest, it was extremely windy as well so it felt very cool.

今日は、２週間に１度の刺繍の集まりがありました。その前に、お友達と軽く Cockburn Tearooms でランチをしました。わたしは、トーストしたアボアドやフムスが入ったサンドイッチにしました。

I joined the embroidery group gathering today but had a quick lunch first with friends in Cockburn Tearooms.  I had a toasted sandwich with avocado, hummus etc.

今日は、お隣のお友達でもあるメンバーのお1人による Crewel 刺繍についてトークがありました。陶器にペイントをしたり水彩画を描かれたりと多才な方ですが、Crewel 刺繍を始められたのはコロナでロックダウンが会った時だそうです。どのようにご自分でデザインされるかなどのお話しがあり、その後、それぞれに花びらの刺繍にトライしました。

One of the members of the group, who is also my next door neighbour friend, gave us a talk about her Crewel embroidery journey.  She is an expert on porcelain painting and watercolour painting as well but it was apparently only during the lockdown when she started crewel embroidery.  She talked about how she makes her own designs, what mistakes she’s made and what works for her, then we were all give a piece of fabric and threads to have a go at embroidering a petal.
