先週月曜日、ロンドン２日目の夕食に遡ります。この日は、わたしたちがロンドンにいる間にロンドンまで出てきてくれるということで、夫の弟夫婦と姪っ子と５人でクリスマス・ディナーをしました。場所は、夫がネット検索して提案した、「Toklas」という、モダン・ブリティッシュ。もう１週間以上前のことで記憶が薄れて来ていますが。
Back to our recent London trip. On Monday last week, we had dinner at “Toklas” in London with my husband’s younger brother, his wife and their daughter – they kindly came into London so we could get together before Christmas. My husband did some research and suggested “Toklas”, which is, I guess, Modern British cuisine. This is more than a week ago so things are a bit hazy.
わたしの前菜は、リボリータ。
I had Ribollita for my starter.
夫の弟は、ビーツのサラダ。
My brother-in-law had Beet Salad.
夫と姪は、シトラスサラダ。
My husband and our niece had Citrus Salad.
義妹は、お魚。
My sister-in-law had some kind of fish.
メインは、夫と夫の弟は鹿肉、とても美味しかったそうです。
For the main, my husband and his brother had Venison, which apparently was very good.
義妹は、ラビオリ。中身がなんだったか思い出せず。
My sister-in-law and Ravioli – but I cannot remember the filling.
わたしは、スパイシーなパンプキンとひよこ豆のサラダ。外側は真っ黒で食べると苦くて完全に焦げていましたが、中身はほっくりとして甘くて美味しかったです（全くスパイシーではなかったですが）。最近、外側を完全に焦がすのが流行っていて、まぁ、これはかぼちゃなので中身だけ食べれば良いのですが、人参も真っ黒焦げが出てきて、外側は食べないのが前提なのかどうなのか。
I had Spicy Pumpkin & Chick Pea Salad. The outside of the pumpkin pieces were completely burned so it wasn’t possible to eat but inside was nice and sweet and not wet like a lot of pumpkins in England. It seems like a trendy thing to burn vegetables now, I never know if they expect you to eat the outside or not. Pumpkin is OK to eat just the inside (although we Japanese usually eat the skin, too) but how are we supposed to eat burned carrot, for example? Anyway it was quite enjoyable other than the burned skin although it was not spicy at all.
夫の弟夫婦のデザートは、花梨のワイン煮（シェアー）。美味しかったようでした。
My brother-in-law and his wife shared Quince Poached In Wine (?), they seem to have enjoyed it.
夫とわたしは、アーモンドと何かのケーキ（シェアー）。
My husband and I shared a cake of almond and something.
人気のようでとても賑わっていました、全体的に、割と美味しかったと思います。
It seemed like a popular restaurant, it was very busy even though it was a Monday, I think the food was quite good overall.
こうして今年も無事に家族の数人と一緒にクリスマスの食事を楽しく出来て有難いです。
I am very happy that we were able to get together before Christmas again this year .
