先日マークス＆スペンサーズに行ったときにyoutubeでどなたかがとても美味しいとおっしゃっていた「Umamium Tomatoes」を見つけたので買ってみました。（以前調べた時はなかったのですが、昨日調べたらオンラインスーパーでも扱っていました。）これまで、これがすごく美味しい！とインスタなどで見て買ってもがっかりすることが多かったのですが、このトマトはとっても美味しい！ミニトマトは美味しいものがたくさんあるのですが、これまで大きなトマトはどれを買ってみてもあまり味がなかったり酸っぱかったりでした、これは酸味もあり甘みもあり味が濃くてとても美味しいです。大きなと言っても小ぶりで、４つで４ポンド（８４０円）と高価ですが、日本でもフルーツトマトはお高いですしね。このトマトはスペインから来ているようです。出来るだけイギリスのものを買うように心がけてはいますが、イギリスのトマト、美味しくないんですもん。

ちなみに、この Umamium は日本語の「旨味」から来ているのだと思われます、最近は日本の外でも旨味という言葉がよく使われるようになりました。

When we were in Marks & Spencer’s we found “Umamium Tomatoes”,  which someone (a Japanese living in England) was saying how delicious they were on a youtube video, so we bought a pack.  (When I checked before I didn’t find it on Ocado but we did find it there yesterday.)  There have been a few things that I saw someone raving about online, but when we bought them I was disappointed so I wasn’t sure about this either but these tomatoes are delicious.  You can find mini tomatoes that are very tasty, but so far we hadn’t found any larger ones that are tasty. We’ve tried many including the ones from the Isle of Wight but they were all tasteless or sour, so we are happy that we found these.  I said larger but these are not very large, sort of medium size, I guess.  They cost £4 for 4 but I know what we call ‘fruit tomatoes’ in Japan can be quite expensive, too, so I feel OK to get them.  These are from Spain and we do try to buy locally grown things as much as possible but since we haven’t found any good tomatoes grown in England….

The name is interesting, it comes from a Japanese word “Umami”, we hear it often these says outside Japan.
