金曜日はまたチチェスターのジャズクラブでジャズのライブがあったので行って来ましたが、その前にまた、Brasserie Blanc で早い時間から夕食をしました。今回は２人だけだったので５時半から。

Last Friday, we went to the Jazz Club in Chichester so we also had an early dinner at Brasserie Blanc.  This time it was just two of us so we booked a table at 5:30pm.

夫は、いつものエスカルゴ。

My husband had his favourite starter, Escargot.

 

わたしは、マッシュルームのタルティーヌ。パンがトーストされていなかったのでべちゃっとしてしまっていたのは残念でしたが、全体のお味は美味しかったです。前菜には量が多すぎて、半分いただきました。

I had Tertine of mushrooms.  The bread wasn’t toasted and had gone soggy, which was a shame, but it tasted good.  It was huge as a starter so I just had about a half.

 

夫は、トラウト。前回もこれでした。とても美味しいそうです。

My husband then had Trout like the last time, he says it’s really good.

わたしはポーク・ノルマンディーにしてみたのですが、これが大失敗。イギリスのポークは美味しくない場合が多いのであまりオーダーしないのですが、なぜか大丈夫かも、と思ってオーダーしてしまいました。臭みはなかったのですが、硬くてぱっさぱさで食べられない。係の方が「お食事はいかがですか？」といらっしゃったので、「このポークは焼き過ぎて硬くて食べられません。」とお伝えしました。（言わないことが多いですがここはよく行くところですし、なにしろ食べられないのでお腹いっぱいと言える状況でもなかったので。）謝られて作り直すか他のものをとおっしゃいましたが、時間がないのでとお断り。少しして戻ってこられて、ステーキナイフをお持ちしましょうかと（笑）。いえいえ、切れないわけではなくて、食べてもパサパサ過ぎて喉を通らないのだとお伝えしました。すると、またしばらくしてもう一度謝られ、シェフも確かに火を通し過ぎていると同意されたのでポークはお勘定から外しますで、とのことでしたが、実はこの１皿は何度か行くともらえるクーポンで無料だったのです、とお伝えしたところ、前菜を１品外してくださいました。

I had Pork Normandy, which was a big big mistake!  I haven’t had good pork in England very often, as far as I can remember – there was only one pork dish I enjoyed in 7 years so I don’t usually order pork.  I don’t know why I thought this one might be good.  It was not gamy but very tough, very dry, not enjoyable enough to eat at all.  When a server asked us how our meal was I told her that the pork was way overcooked, very tough and dry and I cannot eat it.  She asked if I wanted it cooked again or another dish but I told her it was OK as we don’t have time to stay long.  She came back to ask if I wanted a steak knife to help cut it!.  No, I can cut it with normal knife but when you eat it it’s very tough and dry and doesn’t easily go down my throat.  In the end, they came back to tell us that the chef had agreed that it was overcooked so they will remove it from the bill.  We told them that it was nice of them but it was a free dish anyway as we have special coupon.  Then they came back to say they will remove one of the starters from the bill.

 

 

デザートはいつものピスタチオのスフレをシェアー。

Then we shared Pistachio Soufflé as usual.

 

 

このあと、またジャズを楽しんで来ました。

After the dinner we went to the Chichester Jazz Club and enjoyed the live show very much.
