今日は何も予定が入っていない日だったので、ランチとお茶の時間の間に１時間ほどバックガーデンの草抜きをしました。気温は１７度くらいだったみたいですがとにかく日差しが強くて陽が当たるところで作業をしていると暑くて汗だくになりましたが、日陰は風もあって涼しかったです。バックガーデンは大分雑草が少なくなったので、次回はフロントガーデンを頑張ります。雨もすっかり少なくなったので土もとても乾いていたので、夫に水遣りもしてもらいました。これからは、草抜きと水遣りの繰り返しになります。
We didn’t have anything on today, so we did some gardening between lunch and tea time, I worked hard at weeding and my husband helped me with putting some large twigs in the bin and watered the gardens. Now, the back garden is looking better so I need to work on the front garden next. Now that it stopped raining so often, the ground was very dry so I asked my husband to water well. From now until autumn, we’ll be spending a lot of time weeding and watering, I suppose.
今日の夕食は、Hello Fresh の「Spiced Sriracha Chicken Sando with Ranch Dressed Apple, Slaw and Baby Gem Salad（スパイスとシラチャ味のチキン・サンド、ランチドレッシングで和えたりんご、スロー、ベビー・ジェム・レタスのサラダ添え）でした。「Sando（サンド）」という日本語が流行っていて、バーガーにまで使われています（苦笑）。チキンは腿肉で１人２切れずつありましたがのせきれないので１切れずつ使いました、普通にフライパンで焼いて最後に中央アメリカのスパイスミックスを加えます。コールスロー、干し葡萄やピーカンナッツを入れるともっと美味しくなったと思いますが、どちらも美味しくいただきました。
Today’s dinner was “Spiced Sriracha Chicken Sando with Ranch Dressed Apple, Slaw and Baby Gem Salad” from Hello Fresh. The word “Sando” seems to have become so popular but I don’t know what the definition is. It is a Japanese word and in Japan it means sandwich, it’s just shortened (Japanese do this often) and pronounced in a Japanese way, A burger is a burger in Japan. Do they call anything with chicken “Sando” here?? Anyway, you just fry chicken pieces in a frying pan and add Central America Spice Mix once cooked through, they gave us 2 pieces per person but it’s not really possible to put 2 pieces in a bun and eat so we kept 2 pieces behind so we can have them tomorrow for lunch. The slaw was good but I would add some raisins and pecan nuts, which would take it up a level.

I picked a few tulips from a pot of tulips in the garden, of which most are at the end of their lives. I mixed quite a few different kinds of tulips so they look cute like this.
