New Year’s Eve



It’s New Year’s Eve today – we are having a very quiet one.  It was just like a normal Sunday.

We stopped having starters years ago because we find it too filling and only gives us extra weight but now and again we have starters. Today, my husband had smoked salmon.






For the main I cooked Beef in Red Wine – cooked it for about 3 hours yesterday.  Although it was melting tender, I felt the flavour didn’t have depth.  I often put spices or lots of vegetables with the beef but today I cooked it very simply like I used to in Japan, I think beef here just isn’t good and the flavour doesn’t get deep without help of things like spices and vegetables.

I’ll probably add some tomato sauce the sauce and cook it a little before freezing what’s left.
