タングリンモールのタイ料理レストラン Patara で、いつもお忙しくてなかなかお目にかかれないお友達とランチをご一緒してきました。もうお１人ご一緒の予定だったのですが急用でいらっしゃれず残念。
I had lunch with a friend. One more friend was going to join us but something came up and she wasn’t able to make it, so it was just two of us.
Tamarind Hill の方が個人的には美味しと思いますし雰囲気も好きですが、少し遠いのと、階段を上らなくてはいけないのでお天気が悪い時は特に不便。タングリンモールのこのお店は予約をしなくても大抵入れますし、お友達はお車ですがタングリンは車も停めやすく、タクシーのわたしも比較的タクシーが頻繁に来ますし、必要な時は帰りにスーパーでお買い物も出来るので便利。雰囲気は余り良いとは言えない気がしますが（今風ではない）特に悪いわけでもないですし、お味も安定していて全体においしいと思います。
Personally, for Thai food, I prefer Tamarind Hill for the atmosphere and also the food but it’s a little far and also a little inconvenient because you cannot get to the restaurant’s entrance by car/taxi, you need to walk up stairs for a minute or two up the hill. Patara’s decor is a little dated but nice enough and the food is also quite good. The restaurant is quite large so we can usually get in without making a reservation. Also, it’s almost always easy to get a taxi from Tanglin Mall, and we can do shopping in Market Place on our way out if necessary.
あれこれ相談した結果、４品とデザートをオーダーしました。
After a little discussion, we ordered 4 dishes and 1 dessert to share.
タイビーフサラダ。
Thai beef salad.
オリーブライス。とてもおいしいのですが、何年か前に比べると随分量が減ったような気がします。でも、まぁ、いろいろオーダーできて良いかもしれません。
I love their olive rice. I think over the years the quantity has got quite a lot smaller but maybe that’s good because we can order more other dishes.
グリーンチキンカレー。
Green chicken curry.
空芯菜の炒め物。
Stir-fried morning glory with garlic and chilli.
マンゴーともち米。
Mango and sticky rice.
アメックスカードのプロモーションをしていて、月、火曜日はアラカルトが４０％割引になっていて、この後紅茶もいただきましたが１人４５ドルずつと格安でした！
久しぶりにゆっくりとあれこれとりとめのない話をして笑って、楽しいひとときでした。
They are having an Amex Card promotion – 40% off from the a la carte menu on Monday and Tuesday – and luckily it was Tuesday today so we had 40% off. We also had tea after the meal but the bill was S$90 for 2. Excellent value!
This friend is always very busy and I don’t get to see her very often so it was great to catch up with each other, talk and laugh.
ランチの後いくつかお店をぶらっと見て外に出たら大雨！ランチをいただいている時から雨が降ったりやんだりしていましたが、ランチを終わる頃にはやんでいて安心していたのですが。幸い５分ほど並んでタクシーが来たので、やきもきすることなく帰って来れました。その後も少し小降りになったかなと思ったらまた激しい雨が降って、つい今しがた降り止んだところです。
After lunch, I looked in a couple of shops then went out of the mall to get a taxi, and found it was raining very heavily. I’m glad we didn’t go somewhere difficult to get a taxi. We probably would have got soaked if we’d gone to Tamarind Hill when we walked down the steps.
Even though I think the rainy season is over, it can rain extremely heavily any time in Singapore so I tend to go to places where I know you can get a taxi easily when thinking of a restaurant to go to as I have a few very bad experiences.
Tamarind Hillに行っていたらあの大雨の中、大変だったと思います。タングリンモールにしていて良かったです。雨季は終わっても、シンガポールでは一年中比較的雨が多く、それも傘があっても跳ね返しでびしょ濡れになるような雨が多いので、タクシーが捕まらず立ち往生した経験上、ついつい帰りのタクシーを捕まえやすいところに行きがちです。
