久しぶりにお目にかかるお友達とランチをご一緒してきました。３ヶ月ぶりくらい。気になるお店があったのでお付き合いいただいたのですが、たまたま前日にお友達とのランチの場で話題になっていたそうです。場所は、ナショナルミュージアムにある Janice Wong。モダン中華という感じでしょうか。

I had lunch with a friend I hadn’t met for 3 months or so.  She let me choose a restaurant so I picked “Janice Wong” in the National Museum as I have seen many blog posts about the place.  My friend told me that the restaurant was talked about at a lunch with her friends the other day and she was curious.  The decor is very cool modern Chinese.

内装はカジュアルですが、とってもクール。

２人共ランチセットにしました。

We both had their lunch set.

前菜は、ウィスキーポーク（小籠包）とチキンの餃子のようなのを１オーダーずつしてシェアーしました。どちらもとても美味しかったです、１つずつだと少し物足らずもう１つずつ食べたかったな、という感じでした。

We chose Whisky Pork and Chicken something (like gyoza) from the starters and shared.  Both delicious.  I would have wanted more of them.

メインは、わたしはオオムギのヌードル。ピーナッツ味で担々麺のようとどなたかのブログで読んだ記憶があるのですが、個人的には担々麺とは全然違う感じ、あっさりした豚骨ラーメンのような感じでした。

For the main I had Barley Noodles.  I read somewhere that it was like Dan Dan Noodle.  To me, it seemed far from Dan Dan Noodle, it seemed more like very light Tonkotsu (pork bone broth from Kyushu in Japan) noodles.  Not bad but it didn’t seem very special.

お友達は、ホタテや干しえびやいくらの素麺、いろいろな方のブログでどなたもこれを美味しいと書かれていたのでオススメしてみました。日本人が好きな味とおっしゃっていました。器がとっても素敵でした、欲しい！（笑）

My friend had Somen with scallops, dried shrimps and fish roe.  I saw this in many people’s blogs so I recommended it to her.  She said it was very nice, the sort of taste Japanese love.  I loved the plate, it’s beautiful.

お友達は、デザートにティラミスを選ばれました。パティシェのお店のせいかデザートの量が他のものに比べてとても多い気がしました。

わたしはチョコレートケーキにしたのですが、甘くてリッチ。３分の１位食べたでしょうか。わたしには甘すぎました。

I chose the chocolate one.  It was very sweet and rich – too sweet for me.  It was a little disappointing as this is a restaurant by a famous patissiere after all.  Both desserts were very large portions.

意外なことにデザートは今ひとつと思いましたが（アラカルトから選ぶと美味しいのかも）、前菜が美味しかったです。いろいろなブログで記事になっていますが、どなたの記事も同じメニューのような。。。曜日によって違うとか、なんでしょうかね？ウェブサイトは更新されていないのかお値段も以前のお値段（２８ドル）ですし内容も違っています。値上がりしているようで、今日は３５ドル（＋＋）でした。それでも４０ドルちょっとでしたので（食後の飲み物付き）シンガポールではお安い方かなと思います。かなりカジュアルでちょっと落ち着かない感じなので、夫とのディナーには向かない気がします。

So, I wasn’t impressed with their dessert (perhaps a la carte would have been better) but enjoyed the starters very much.  I saw many blog posts about this restaurant and they all seem to have had the same dishes, so I don’t know how often they change their menu.  On their website, the lunch set is S$28(++) but it was S$35 (++) including tea/coffee.  It’s still reasonable for Singapore I think.  It is such a casual restaurant, I somehow don’t think it’s suitable for dinner for my husband and I, but nice for a casual lunch.
