台湾と日本滞在の記事がなかなか書けずにいます。というのも、腱鞘炎になってしまいまして（涙）。以前から多少痛みがあったのですが、今回日本から戻った翌日からかなり酷い痛みが出ていて（多分スーツケースを押して家から駅まで歩いたのがいけなかったのかと。。。）、タイプや写真の編集は良くないと思うので、少し休み休みにしています。もう１つ、なかなかアップできなかった理由は、ろくな写真が撮れていなかったから（涙）。

I’m afraid it’s taking me a long time to write about my visit to Taiwan and stay in Japan.  It seems I have tendovaginitis on my right wrist and it’s quite painful.  I had some pain before but on the day after I got back from Japan it suddenly got much worse and it shoots a very strong pain when I move it in a certain way, so I’m trying not to do too much typing or editing of my photos.  Another reason is because most of the photos I took look rubbish.

さて、台湾２日目、午後２時に予約していたハイヤーにホテルでピックアップしていただきました。まず向かったのは十份（シーフェン）。今回の台湾旅行は食い倒れのような食べ歩きばかりの旅行でしたが、少しは観光もしたいということでこの十份と九份に行くことにしました。

So, on the 2nd day in Taiwan at 2.00pm, we got picked up at the hotel by the taxi driver we’d booked for the rest of the day.  We first went to Shihfen, which is about 40 minutes by car from the centre of Taipei.  Most of the things we were planning to do in Taiwan involved eating, but we wanted to do some sightseeing also.

十份（シーフェン）では旧正月に一斉に願い事を書いた天燈（ランタン）を飛ばすという行事があるそうです。旧正月以外の普段の日も飛ばせるということで、願い事を書いて飛ばしてきました。赤は健康、藍色は仕事、紫色は学業など、色によって意味があるそうで、１色から数色まで選べるようでしたが、わたしたちは丁度４面なので４色のものにしました。値段ははっきり覚えていませんが、１０００円程度だったと思います。次々とベルトコンベアーに乗っているかのようで（良い商売になりますね〜）趣も何もありませんが、ちゃんとわたしのiPhoneで写真やビデオを撮ってくれるというサービス付きでした。

This place called Shifen is well known for the lanterns they fly during Chinese New Year but you can let it fly any time of year.  You write your wishes on a lantern and let it go up into the sky.  Apparently each colour represents a certain type of wish – red is for health, navy is for work etc.  It’s done very businesslike but at least they would take photos and a video for you using your phone.  I don’t remember exactly how much it was but I think it was only something like 1,000 yen, so not much.

まだ明るい時間だったので明るい空の天燈（ランタン）は写真にはあまり写らないのですが、たくさん飛んでいました。夜だときれいでしょうね。

We were there during the day so it was hard to capture good photos of the lanterns in the bright sky, but they would have been more visible at night.  As soon as we got close to the place we could see many lanterns in the sky.

こうして、なぜか線路沿いで願い事を書いて線路上で飛ばします。電車は今も走っているそうで見れるといいなと思っていたのですが、わたしたちがいた間には来ませんでした。

I don’t know why but they let you write your wishes along the railroad and let lanterns go right on the railroad.  It would have been fun to see a train coming but we didn’t see any.

下の数枚だけが。気に入っている写真です、一眼レフの写真、他はiPhone。もっと一眼レフで撮れば良かったです。

These few photos are the only ones I liked – taken by my SLR.  The rest were taken with my iPhone.  I should have tried to take more photos with my SLR.

いくつか屋台が出ていて、こちらはクレープにピーナッツをのせてアイスクリームをのせて巻いたもの。美味しそうと思って買いましたが、あまり美味しくもなかった。

They were selling these sweets – ice cream with peanuts  wrapped in a crepe.  We thought it looked great but it wasn’t that great…

ここでは天燈を飛ばす以外にすることもなく、お土産やさんを少しのぞいて次の目的地の九份に向かいました。

There is nothing much to do here other than seeing and letting go of the lanterns.  We looked in some of the shops but didn’t stay long and headed for the next destination, Jiufen.
