旅行記は前記事の、ロンドン最終日のディナーでおしまい、です。長々とおつきあい、ありがとうございました。スコットランドに全然興味がなかった方も興味を持ってくださったのだと嬉しいな、と思っています。英国まで行ってロンドンだけではもったいないな〜、と常々思っています。デボンのような田舎も素敵ですし、スコットランドやアイルランドも素晴らしいところなので是非訪ねてみてください。

The last post about the last dinner in London was the end of my holiday blog.  I hope some of those who never had any interest in Scotland are now interested.  I always felt it was such a shame that so many people go all the way to the UK and see only London. I love London but I love country sides like Devon and also other parts of the UK like Scotland and Ireland.

他に、お買い物のこともちょこっと書こうかと思っていますが、その前に、最近旅行の時に必ず持って行くもので思いついて良かったと思っているものがあります。こういう記事が大好きでネットで旅行便利グッズで検索したりするのですが、これを見かけたことがないので。。。

I may write a little about what I bought in the UK but there is something I want to share with you all.  It’s something, I think, very useful to know for travelling.  I love reading the articles like “Useful goods for travelling” or “Packing secrets” and I read a lot of them but I’ve never seen anyone mentioning this myself.

It’s a mini spray bottle.

 

 

これは水を入れる部分は１０センチ弱の小さなクラフト用のスプレーボトルで、カードを作る時用に購入したものです。もっと小さなミニミニボトルを持って行くこともあります。お水を何度か入れれば良いだけなので、小さくて十分。でも、これくらいの大きさが使いやすい。これを使う前はもっと大きなアイロンの時に使うようなもので小さめのものを持って行っていました。ふと、小さくて良いはずとこれに変えたらこの大きさで十分で、場所も取らず便利です。

This particular one is a small bottle (the part you put water in is a little shorter than 10cm) that is meant to be for craft.  I bought it for card making.  I’ve also used even smaller one, a mini mini size spray bottle, and even that one is OK.  However, I find this the best size.  Before taking this, I have taken one of those much larger one you use for ironing etc but this one takes much smaller space and it doesn’t need to be any bigger.

何に使うのかといえば、洋服にスプレーしてシワを取るのに使います。どんなに気をつけて畳んでもどうしても折りじわは出てしまいますし、ものによっては結構たくさんシワになってしまいます。また、旅行の時は着るたびに洗うこともできず、汗さえかかなければ２度３度と着ることもありますが、１度着ただけでたくさんシワが出てしまうものもあります。

I use this to spray on clothes and get rid of creases.  Even when you fold your clothes very carefully you cannot avoid folded lines and some of them creases up very easily.  Also when I am on holiday I cannot always wash clothe every time I wear so I would wear some of them a few times unless I feel I got very sweaty and yukky about it.  Some  clothes get creased up when you wear once and doesn’t feel fresh.

目的地に着いたら、わたしはほとんど全部出して洋服ダンスや整理ダンスに入れておきたい方で、洋服はハンガーにかけてしまいますが、そのときにお水をスプレーしてかけておくと乾燥しているヨーロッパなら１、２時間後にはきれいに乾いてシワもきれいに延びています。もちろん素材によると思いますが（当然、手洗いできない素材には使えません）、わたしが普段着ているシルク素材、シルクっぽい化繊の素材、秋頃に着るような薄手のニットなどどれもきれいにシワが延びました。

I am one of those people who like unpacking everything even when we are staying there only for a couple of days, so I hang all my tops on hangers and spray water where creases are.  When you are in a dry place like Europe, they are dry in a couple of hours and looking nice and fresh without any crease.  Of course I guess it depends on the material but it worked with all the tops I wear (silk, other silky materials, some light knit tops).  (You cannot use this method for those you cannot hand wash.)

スプレーを持ち歩くまではホテルのバスルームにかけてシャワーをオンにしてしばらくスティーム、という夫が若い頃からしていた方法でしていましたが、うまくいくときもあれば、びしゃびしゃになってしまったり、思うようにシワがのびなかったりすることもありました。気取ったレストランに行く時は、馬鹿馬鹿しい料金でホテルにプレスしていただいたこともあります。この方法、タダで簡単で効果的。断然オススメします！

Until I thought of this I used to hang clothes in the bathroom, put the shower on high for a little white to let it steam – which is what my husband always did since he was young when he travelled and it was very useful for some clothes –  but it sometimes made them soaking wet or didn’t work to uncrease.  Sometimes we paid a lot of money for having them pressed by the hotel to be able to go to a nice restaurant.  I highly recommend this method.  Quick, free and very effective.
