突然、洗濯機が故障しました。９月にコンドのコントラクトを更新するときに洗濯機（ここに入って９年目に入ります、入ったときに以前の入居者が使っていた洗濯機でした）を新しくしてもらうことになっていましたが、まだ新しいのを持って来ていず、催促しないとと思っていた矢先のこと。警備員に連絡して他のユニットの洗濯機を使えるか聞いたところチェックしに来たのですが、そのときにブレーカもしれないのでブレーカーをチェックするとのこと。そこまでは良いのですが、どういうわけか、全部のブレーカーをオフにしてしまいました。なぜ？！お陰でコンピューターも突然電源が切れて、わたしのコンピューターは問題なかったのですが、夫のコンピューターは何かと支障が出てその後数時間かかって元にもどしていましたが、そのため夕食を作る余裕なし。急遽外食することになりました。（結局ブレーカーではなく洗濯機の故障だったので、他のユニットの洗濯機を使いました。）

Our washing machine suddenly stopped working today.  When we renewed the contract of this condo in September, replacing the old washing machine (it was already used when we moved in 8 years ago) with a new one was one of the things they agreed to do but they haven’t done so, so I was just thinking I must push them to do that this morning, then this happens!  I contacted the guard of the condo about it (to ask if we can use an empty unit’s washing machine) and he came to check the machine.  He wanted to see if it had anything to do with the breaker, which was fine, but he turned all of them off then on.  Why??!  This means both my and my husband’s PC suddenly got cut off.  Mine was OK but my husband’s got messed up and he had to spend a few hours trying to put all back.  Urrrr!!!

Anyway, this meant he didn’t have time to decide what to cook, do the shopping and cook dinner and we decided to go out.

少し前に Pizza Express の１号店がオープンしたとの情報を見たので、トライしてみることに。Pizza Express はイギリスでは何度か入ったことがある、カジュアルなピザ屋さん。シンガポールにこれまでなかったのが不思議な感じです。（少し前だと思いましたが、１年前にオープンしていました。笑）

A little while ago, I saw some information saying the 1st Pizza Express opened in Singapore, so we tried it.  Pizza Express is a very casual British pizza restaurant, we’d been to some of them in England and we were surprised they hadn’t had one here in Singapore before now.

 

イタリア風前菜の盛り合わせをシェアー。思っていたより美味しかったです。

We shared Italian antipasto plate.  It was quite nice and we enjoyed it.

ピッツァのベースは２種類あって、昔からあるクラッシックなタイプ（多分アメリカ風のピッツァ）とローマ風の薄くて大きくてカリッとしたベース。わたしたちはローマ風にしました。マルゲリータにハラペーニョの酢漬けをプラス。ローマ風とは全然違うと思いますが、カリカリしていて軽めで、期待していたより美味しかったです。結構好きな感じでした。

They had 2 different types of pizza base, one “classic” and the other. “Roman style larger, thinner and crispier” one.  We chose the Roman one and had Margherita with an addition of marinaded green chilli.  I wouldn’t say it’s “Roman style” but it was nice and crispy – and nicer than I expected.

 

デザートは、ブラウニーにしたのですが、これは失敗。ほとんどが生クリームとアイス。夫は美味しいと食べていましたが。

For dessert we ordered Brownie – a big mistake (at least for me).  It was more cream and ice cream than brownie.  My husband enjoyed it, though.

 

 

生ビール大２杯、小１杯。お会計、１００ドル。安い！金曜日の夜に行きたいとは思いませんが、平日の夕食や急に思いついての食事には安くて美味しくて良いと思いました。

We had 1 large draft beer and 2 small and the total bill was S$100 – great value!  It’s not a restaurant I would want to go to on a Friday evening but I would be quite happy to go back for a weekday dinner or when we suddenly decide to go out.

 

と、ここまで書いて住所を調べたところ、スコッツスクエアーにあるじゃないですか〜。なぜ、夫は遠い Duo Galleria に予約を入れたのやら。。。スコッツスクエアーが１号店で、こちらが２号店のようです。

After writing up to here, I searached for the address and found out that there are 2 in Singapore and by some reason my husband had booked a table at their Duo Galleria one.  There is actually one in Scotts Square.  I think the one in Scotts Square is the first one.
