姪っ子とディンタイフォンでランチ。

Had lunch at Din Tai Fung with our niece.

野菜の前菜。

Vegetable starter.

小籠包。

Xiaolongbao.

ほうれん草のニンニク炒め。

Stir-fried spinach with garlic.

担々麺。

Dan Dan Noodles.

 

ほうれん草の炒め物はもう少し味をつけても良いのではと思いましたが、どれも美味しくいただきました。

I thought the spinach can use more seasoning but they were all good.

この冬は日本もですがイギリスもとても寒く、つい昨日も結構雪が降ったとか。わたしには暑すぎるシンガポールですが、姪っ子はとても嬉しそう。

今朝はゆっくり起きてプールサイドで寛いでいた様子ですが、ランチの後、姪っ子は街をぶらぶらしに出かけました。１歳から５歳くらいまで姪っ子の家族はシンガポールに駐在していたこともありシンガポールは少しは馴染みのある場所ですが、何しろ５歳にはイギリスに帰っているのでシンガポール時代のことは少ししか記憶にないみたいです。わたしはぶらぶら歩きには付き合えませんが、それ以来何度かは家族で来ているので全く知らないところ、ということでもないですし、多少迷ってもシンガポールは安全なので安心です。お買い物でもしてるかな？

It’s been cold this winter in Japan, too, but very cold in England, I hear they had snow yesterday.  It’s much too hot for me here but our niece seems very happy to be in this heat.

She says she slept well, had the morning at the pool relaxing in the warm weather.  After lunch, she went to explore the town.  She and her family lived in Singapore from when she was about 1 year old until about 5 years old, but naturally she remembers only bits and pieces of her life in Singapore.  It’s too hot for me to walk with her but fortunately I don’t need to worry as it’s very safe here.  She has been to Singapore a couple of times in the last 10 years or so with her family so she has some idea about the town and even if she cannot find her way around very well the town is small and as I say it’s safe. Maybe she is doing some shopping?
