India Trip Day 14 / Humayun’s Tomb (Delhi) & India Gate

After lunch, we visited Humayun’s Tomb, which is the first and finest example of the monumental scale that became a feature of Mughal imperial architecture and inspired the Taj Mahal.  Mughal architecture is the type of Indo-Islamic architecture.

Most temples, forts and other historic  monuments in India are very large in scale and have so many things to see, it often takes at least 2 hours just to walk around and have a quick look.  In Delhi, the traffic was very congested as well and our lunch took much longer than we had anticipated.  Therefore, we were running out of time on this last day.

We had booked an Art Tour of the hotel we were staying at, The Imperial, and it was scheduled to start at 5.00pm.  We wanted to buy some tea in a tea shop before then so we told our guide, who was going to show us some more tombs, that we were running out of time and would like to skip the tombs and go to the tea shop we were planning to try.  We drove in front of India Gate on the way.
