ガーデン・ロード最終日は、Wilderness　から Franschhoekという街まで 400kmほど。

On our last day on Garden Route from Wilderness to Franschhoek, a drive of about 400km.

ダチョウファームもありました。

We saw some Ostrich farms.

途中、行きで泊まった Swellendam でランチをしました。こちらは、街の教会。

We had lunch at Swellendam, where we stayed on our way out to Shamwari.  This is the church of the town.

で、ランチですが、サービスも遅すぎるし食べ物も酷すぎたのでどのレストランかは書きません。

わたしはこの少し前にワイナリーで食べたボボティは割と美味しかったですし、南アフリカらしいものも食べておきたいと思いボボティをオーダーしてみたのですが、これが甘くて甘くて美味しくなかった。

I’m not going to say which restaurant we ate in because the lunch was pretty awful and the service was extremely slow.  As the Boboti we had earlier at a winery wasn’t bad, and I wanted to have more “South African food” before we left, I ordered Boboti here but this one was pretty bad – so sweet!  Not to my taste anyway.

そして夫がオーダーしたチキンパイは、これです。見てわかりますが、ソースっぽいものが全くないぱさぱさの鶏肉、それも塊ではなくほぐしたもの、の上にパイ生地を乗せてやいただけ、しかも焦げてませんか？夫はわたしのように食べ物についてそう文句を言う方ではないのですが、これは酷すぎて食べられない、とほとんど残していました。

My husband ordered Chicken Pie.  As you can tell from the photo, there is no gravy or sauce, just a lot of dry shredded cooked chicken covered with a pie sheet, which looks burnt.  My husband doesn’t often complain like I do about food, but he said this was really bad, he couldn’t eat it and left most of it.

気を取り直して、先に進みます。ケープタウンに近づいてくると山が高くなってきて、景色もドラマチックになって行きました。

As we went closer to Cape Town, the mountains got higher and the views were more dramatic.

この日は、Franschhoek というワイナリーがたくさんある街のホテルに泊まりました。このホテルがとてもよかったので、また別にアップします。

We stayed at a hotel in Franschhoek, where a lot of wineries are.  We loved this hotel so I’ll blog it separately.
