P.S.Cafe At Ann Siang Hill / Get Together

I saw that a friend, who was my oil painting teacher in Hong Kong, was visiting Singapore with her husband on her Facebook and made a comment asking to contact me if they have time to get together, and we had dinner together tonight.  I guess we saw them about 3 years ago.  I never thought I would be able to paint until I went to her oil painting class, it’s only because of her that I was able to paint – I now  know anybody can paint if you have the right person to show you how.  I used to look forward to my oil painting class and had a great time twice a week in Hong Kong.  If I hadn’t done oil painting with her, I don’t think I would even try to paint with watercolour like I do now and again.  I would say she changed my life because I at least feel I have a chance to be able to do some artistic things.  She is still teaching oil painting in KL and changing many people’s lives.

I had to come up with a place that can be booked for Friday night on Friday afternoon, somewhere not far from Marina Bay Sands (where they were staying), a restaurant that serves relatively consistently good food, somewhere casual …  and I came up with “P.S. Cafe” at Ann Siang Hill.  There are 4 or 5 P.S.Cafe in Singapore but they all seem to be slightly different and their menu is also slightly different.

I don’t know if this is new item on their menu or only Ann Siang Hill branch has this, but I found Thai Chicken With Basil (served with prawn salad but I asked without) so that’s what I ordered.  It was different from they way I cook but it was very good, better than I expected.  It came with thinly shredded carrot and cucumber salad that tasted like Vietnamese, which went well with the rest.  I would have liked it a little more spicy but I did get a strong kick a few times, I guess there were just a few slices of small chilli.

Our friends shared Lamb Chop and Fish & Chips, which they said were good.

Oops, I don’t know why I focused on chips.

My husband had Steak & Frites, which he enjoyed.

We ordered 2 dessert dishes and shared between 4 – Sticky Date Pudding (forgot to take a photo) and Profiteroles (filled with ice cream) with Salt Caramel Sauce.  I personally love Sticky Date Pudding.

We met around 7.30pm and it was 10.00pm when we looked at the time, time really flew.  They are going back to KL tomorrow.  I’m glad I asked if they had time to see us on her Facebook!

I wish I could have her teach me how to paint– I truly don’t know if I could do it though. 😭 The food looks amazing!

I am convinced that everyone can paint if she/he has a good teacher, not that I can paint a materpiece, of course, but something pleasant enough to see and also I really enjoy the process. It’s such a shame that there aren’t enough good teachers like her.
