これから忙しくなるというときに、風邪を引いてしまいました。とほほ。一昨日の夕方鼻炎が酷くなったのでヘイズのせいかなと思っていのですが、夜中から「う〜ん、これは多分風邪だな〜。」という状況に。昨日の昼間はまぁまぁだったのが夜になって少し具合悪くなり珍しく早く寝て、夜中は鼻が詰まって苦しかったのですが、今朝には楽になっていましたし、熱も出ていないので大した風邪ではなさそうです。やれ、やれ。ちょうど、「このところ、風邪ひいてないな」と思っていたところだったのです。
I came down with a cold – very inconvenient as I’m busy this week on… On the day before yesterday, I had runny nose in the evening and thought maybe it was because of the haze but by late at night it had developed into something more like a cold. I wasn’t too bad during the day yesterday but felt quite rotten at night with bunged up nose. Fortunately, I felt better in the morning. I haven’t had any fever so hopefully it’s just a light cold.
さて、今日はお友達お２人と軽いランチをご一緒しました。わたしが行きたいところにと言っていただいたのですが、特に行きたいところというのもあまりなく。。。で、ふと、そういえば「Tea Bone Zen Mind」に長い間行ってないな、と思ってリクエストしました。ティー・サンプリングといってお茶が３種類とちょこちょこと食べ物も出てくるもので、ランチタイムにいただけるので軽い食事代わりに。お茶をたくさんいただくので、食べ物は少しですがそれなりに結構お腹も膨れますし、今日のようにわたしたちだけしかいないときは静かなのでゆっくりおしゃべりが出来るのも良いです。ただ、たまに同じお部屋に他の日本人のグループがいらっしゃることもあり、そういうときは静かなだけにかえってお互いの会話が気になるので、寛げなかったりします。こればかりは、行って見ないとわからないのですが。
I had light lunch with a couple of friends. They asked me where I wanted to go to but I don’t have many restaurants I really like here… but remembered “Tea Bone Zen Mind”. It’s not a restaurant but you can have what they call “Tea Sampling” – which is 3 different teas and some light snack type of food. As you drink a lot of tea, somehow you feel full enough by the end of the course, even though you don’t get a lot of food. We were the only customers today ( and from my experience they often seem to have just one group) it was nice and relaxing. Sometimes they do have a few groups, then it becomes a little awkward as they tend to be Japanese and we cannot help hearing the conversations of other groups.
１０年前、シンガポールに来たばかりの時にお友達のお気に入りのカフェとして連れて行っていただいたお店の１つなのですが、それから数カ所にお引越しされていて、今はエメラルド・ヒルにあります。大きくサインを出していないので普通のオタクのように見えてわかりにくいのですが、ベルを押すとドアを開けていただけます。中国茶や茶器などを販売されていて、日本の方達にはここのお茶をお土産にされる方も多いようです。今日ご一緒したお１人はお茶を買ったことはあるけれどティーサンプリングは初めてとおっしゃっていました。（こちらは、事前の予約が必要です。）
When we moved to Singapore 10 years ago, a friend took me to this place (it was called with a different name and was in a different place then) as it was one of her favourite places. They moved a few times since and are now in Emerald Hill. It’s hard to know it is a cafe from outside because there is no large sign and the door is closed but if you ring the bell they’ll open the door. You do need to make a reservation in advance, you cannot just walk in. They sell various tea and teaware so one of the friends I went there with today had been there to buy tea but hadn’t tried this Tea Sampling.
最初はいつも冷たいお茶がグラスで出て来ます。こちらは、プレゼンテーションがとっても素敵で、絵になります。最初のお茶は、中国茶と一緒にお茶請けにいただく茶梅とお店オリジナルのシロップで味をつけた日本の緑茶だとおっしゃったと思います。茶梅の味が独特でわたしは苦手な味でしたが、氷が溶けて薄まるといただけました。途中でライムを絞って、またその後でジンを加えて楽しんでくださいとのことでした。クラッカーの上にダック（スモークしてあったと思います、鴨が苦手なわたしもいただけました）がのったもの、生姜の砂糖漬け、お煎餅、プリッツ（？）が一緒に出て来ました。
First they always serve iced tea in glasses. I love their presentations, they look very stylish. The first tea today was Japanese green tea with Chinese preserved plum and their original syrup. To be honest the preserved plum is an acquired taste, I think, so I found it not very pleasant but when the ice melted and made the tea weaker it tasted better. It was served with lime and gin to add to change the flavour as you like. They served Taiwanese duck (I think it was smoked, so I was able to enjoy it even though I usually don’t like duck), sugared ginger, rice cracker and some other snack.
２つ目のお茶は、翡翠烏龍茶だそうです。一緒に出て来たのは、小玉ねぎのピクルスと沢庵（日本酒につけてあるとおっしゃっていました）、お豆腐に甘すっぱいタレをかけたもの、しいたけを焼いてバターをのせたもの、茶卵（美味しい！）、きゅうりのサンドイッチ（ふりかけ入り）、ライム風味のトルティーヤチップス。
The 2nd tea was Jade Oolong tea, which was served with pickled onion, picked turnip (Japanese turnip with Japanese sake), tofu with some sweet and sour sauce, grilled shiitake with butter, tea egg (I love these) and cucumber and furikake sandwich, tortilla with lime flavour.
最後のお茶は、東方美人。お茶請けは、シナモンクッキー、ナッツ、ドライフルーツ、梅ゼリー。
The last tea was Eastern Beauty, served with cinnamon cookies, nuts, dried fruit and plum jelly.
サンドイッチは追加オーダーになっていて、１人７３ドルでした。良いお茶はとてもお高いものなので食べ物があまり出ない割にお高いのはわかっていましたが、それにしてもちょっとお高いような、と思い調べてみると数年前はサンドイッチだけでなく手羽先やポークも追加オーダーして５９ドルとなっています、この数年で２０%ほど上がっていました。
お２人とゆっくりとおしゃべりが出来てとても楽しかったです！
Sandwiches were extra order and in total it was S$73 per person. I know good quality tea is expensive and it was going to be on the expensive side (for the amount of food) but I thought it seemed more expensive than I remembered. When I checked on my old blog, I found out that it was S$59 with sandwiches, chicken wings and some pork dish, it looks like they put the price up by 20% in the last few years.
I did enjoy what they served and taking a few hours with my friends to chat very much.
