少し前に香港時代のお友達ご夫婦が家を見がてらキャッチアップに来てくださいましたが、そのときに新居のお祝いにと小さな鉢に入った水仙をいただきました。昨日の花束にも入っていた、白い小さな水仙で、英語では「Narcissus」と呼ばれます。よく見かける大きなのは Daffodil 、こちらはギリシャ神話で水面に映った自分の姿に見とれて水に落ちて死に、その後に咲いたと言われる水仙、Narcissus（いくつか説があるようですが）、ナルシズムやナルシストの語源です。

When a couple of friends from Hong Kong days visited us to see our new house and to catch up with us they gave us a small pot of narcissus for a house warming present.

いただいたのは２８日だったので１０日ほど。頂いた時はほんの少し芽が出ている状態でしたが、ふと昨日気づくとニョキっと伸びていました。お花が咲くのが楽しみです。

They came on the 28th December so it’s been about 10 days.  When they gave it to us, we saw just tips of the leaves but yesterday I noticed one of them grown so fast as well as a couple of others are also growing nicely.  We are looking forward to them flowering.
