今日はそこそこ青空も見える、まぁまぁ良いお天気でした。ただ、風が強くて気温も下がったのでお庭日和ではなかったです。でも、今日は久しぶりにたくさん小鳥が餌を食べに来ていました。とても暑かった時期、ほとんど見かけず、最近（と言ってももう１ヶ月近くなると思いますが）餌ステーションを変えたり餌を変えたりしたので心配でした。少し暑すぎたのかもしれませんね。以前は前の住人の方が残して行かれた、キッチン横のユーティリティーの外壁に取り付けた小鳥の家から餌をあげる入れ物を吊るしていたのですが、リスが一気に全部食べてしまうので別のものを買って場所も変えたのです。今は、小鳥の餌ステーションは、こんな風になっています。透明の丸いドームは、リス避けです。

I think it wasn’t supposed to be good weather today but it wasn’t bad, some sun shine specially later in the afternoon.  However it was very windy and the temperature dropped so not really a garden weather, but we saw a lot of little birds at our bird feeders today.  When it was very hot for 10 days or so we didn’t see many, sometimes hardly any and we were quite worried if it was to do with our new feeding station.  When we moved in there was already a little hanging feeder left by the previous owner on the bird house attached to the wall of the utility room next to the kitchen and that’s what we were using, but we realised one day that a squirrel (or two or more) was eating the whole seeds in one day so we bought a new feeding station.  The upside down clear bowl is to stop squirrels getting to the seeds.

 

お隣から来ていたピンクのクレマチスは早くから咲いていたので見頃は終わって枯れて来ています、反対にうちの白いクレマチスは今が見頃。お隣といえば、今はお隣のピンクの薔薇が綺麗に咲いていて、垣根を超えてこちら側に少し入って来ています、今度写真を撮らないと。

The pink clematis from next door started early so now they aren’t looking great, but now our white ones are looking at their best.  There are also some pretty pink roses from the next door coming into our garden over the fence, I should take some photos of them.

たまにアップしている、家の中から見えないところにある赤い薔薇がずいぶん咲いています。いくつか株があればもっと華やかなのに、これ１つだけポツンとあるので、ちょっと寂しい感じです。

I blogged these red roses once or twice before but this rose bush is in a part of the garden we cannot easily see from inside the house and there is only one bush, nothing else around it, so they look a bit lonely.

そして、ロータスが今は４つ咲いています。全部一度に写真に撮れない状態、１つは葉っぱに隠れちゃってるし。これが一番綺麗に咲いています。

And there are 4 lotus flowers open now in the pond, but I cannot take a photo of them all together.  One flower is under a large leaf.  This one looks the prettiest.

リビングの窓から外を見ると表の小さなお庭の白いバラがたくさん見えます。

This is the view through the front window of our living room, we can see a lot of white roses in our small front garden.

 

写真は撮れませんでしたが、濃いピンクのピオニーもまだ綺麗に咲いています。

何度か書いているように、わたしたちはガーデニングに関する知識が全くと言って良いほどないので、どれをどのようにお手入れすれば良いのかわかりません。お花が終わって来ているものは剪定しなくてはいけないものもあると思いますし、また、自分たちが好きなお花やハーブなどを植えたいと思っています。ピオニーが咲いているところがほとんど今無駄になっているのでそこを花壇にしようと相談中なのですが、自分たちだけでするのは少し不安。家のリノベーションでお世話になっているインテリアデザイナーの方にガーデナーさんに来てもらっているなら紹介してほしいとお願いしたところ快く紹介してくださって、昨日下見に来ていただきました。ロックダウンが少し緩和されたところなので今とてもお忙しく、３週間ほど先になるそうですが、お手入れなどお願いできることになりました。芝生も冬の雨ばかり降っていたときに苔が出来てしまいまだらになっているので、お手入れしていただく予定です。楽しみ。

As I wrote a few times, we don’t have any knowledge about gardening and we really don’t know what to do.  There are some flowers that are finishing and they probably need some sort of pruning but we don’t want to do anything wrong.  We also want to have some flowers and herbs we like in an area and we think it may be a good idea to do that near where the peonies are because that area is at the moment sort of wasted, but I feel we want some professional advice.  The lawn needs some treatment because it’s very patchy now as there was a lot of moss growing when it was raining every day during the winter and we had someone killing it.   We asked our interior designer if she uses any gardeners and she gave us a contact. They came to have a look yesterday and agreed to work on our garden.  As the lockdown was loosened a little only recently, they are really busy but they can come in 3 weeks or so.  I’m looking forward to the garden looking better.
