昨日、絵を壁にかけに来てくださった方、今日も来てくださり（１枚だけ写真を額装していただくものが残っていますが）、全部かけ終わりました。他も追々アップしますが、まずは夫のロフトに上がる階段の壁。

The guy who came yesterday to put the pictures on the walls came back again today for a couple of hours to finish off the job.  There is still one picture that he is going to reframe for us, but all the others are done.  I’ll blog other walls in the house too later, but first, here is the staircase that goes up to my husband’s loft.

夫は１０代の頃からジャズが好きで、今でもたくさん昔のレコードを持っているのですが、その中から特に好きなアルバムのジャケットを額装に出したものとジャズプレイヤーのポスターを額装したものなどを並べました。ジャズ好きな夫のお部屋に上がる階段らしくなり、ジャズクラブへの入り口を思わせる良い雰囲気になりました。

My husband has always loved jazz since he was in his teens and still has a lot of old records, so he picked the albums he particularly likes and put the album jackets in frames.  He also bought some posters of jazz players in frames and put them on the walls.  It looks a bit like a staircase in a jazz club.  He loves the look.

壁の色は少し緑がかったベージュのような微妙な色。裏口から入ったところからユーティリティー（階段を上がらずにまっすぐお庭側に行くとユーティリティーになっています）も含めて全部この色にしました。

The colour of the walls is quite subtle, a little green-ish beige?  Hard to explain.  When you go in the back door and walk straight you’ll go through to the back garden, but if you walk up the stairs on the right there is my husband’s loft and we had all the walls in this area painted in the same colour (except the staircase itself, and the coving etc, which are in white).

表玄関の横のガレージ側の裏口から入って突き抜けると裏庭側に出るのですが、その途中から階段を上がるとガレージの上に当たるところに屋根裏部屋があって、そこを夫のお部屋にしました。

音楽を聞くのが大好きなので音楽を聞くときに座るためのレザーのアームチェアーをずっと探していたのですが、やっと今回手に入れて嬉しそうです。左右のスピーカーから均等の距離になるところに椅子がないといけないそうな。足を置くフットスツールも似た色のレザー。

レザーのアームチェアー、チェックのソファー、ブラインド、ソファーのクッションはどれもカスタムオーダー、絨毯、サイドテーブル、ランプもこちらに来てからネットで探してオーダーしたもの。インテリア・デザイナーさんのお陰でとても居心地の良い自分のお部屋が出来て、とても嬉しそうです。

真冬はとても寒くなり、暑い時はすごく暑くなるのが困ったところ。ガレージを改装したら多分少し暖かくなると思います。

My husband loves listening to music and he has always wanted to get his perfect leather armchair to sit in while he listens – and he finally got it earlier this year.  Apparently the armchair has to be at the same distance from the right and left speakers.  He also got a footstool in a similar coloured leather.

We had made for us the sofa, the blinds, the cushions, and the armchair here, and bought the carpet, side tables, and lamps since we moved in.   Thanks to our interior designer the room looks lovely, cozy and very comfortable.  My husband is very happy!

The only problem, of course, is it’s very cold in winter and very hot when it’s hot.  Once the garage below it is converted hopefully it’ll be warmer in winter.
