毎年、色のテーマを変えているツリーの飾り付け、赤はいかにもクリスマスという色なのでいつもは避けていますが、我が家のダークな壁の色のリビングルームに合いそうだと思い、ダークな赤（明るめの赤も混じっています）と白にしました。以前、ブラックの飾りを使って見たことがあるのですが、いくらキラキラしていてもブラックはやはりブラック、あまりに暗くてツリーのグリーンに隠れて沈み過ぎたという経験があり、ダークな赤だけでは暗くなりそうなので白も加えました。良い感じ、かな。今年はツリーの形もとても良かったです。同じくらいと思いましたが、今年のツリーは去年より背が高く、我が家のリビングに丁度良い高さでした。７フィートだそうです。

I change the colours of the Christmas tree decorations every year.  I usually avoid red because it seems too obvious but I thought dark red would go nicely with the dark walls of our living room so I decided to choose that this year.  I’ve used black decorations once before, which I found was much too dark, even with sparkles, and I was a little worried the dark red might be too dark, so I added some white as well.  It looks quite nice, I think.  The shape of the tree this year is very good, too, and the height was perfect.  I thought we chose the same height as the last year but it’s taller and is just the right height.  Any taller, we would have had to cut the top, which we have done in the past.  My husband tells me it’s 7 feet tall.

 

 

 

 

今年はいくつか新しい飾りを買いました。赤にゴールドの大きな飾り、６種類の模様がセットになっていました。なかなか素敵。白（というよりクリーム色）に赤の模様のものも今年購入したもの。

I bought quite a few new baubles this year.  The red with gold pattern ones are new, there were 6 different designs as a set, very nice.  The white (they are actually cream rather than white) with red marks are also new.

 

 

 

他にも、お部屋のあちらこちらにクリスマスの飾りを飾っています。ちなみに、お雛様はわたしが神戸に住んでいた時に押絵のレッスンで作った木目込み人形、今は年中飾っています。

We put quite a few decorations on the mantlepiece as well.

 

 

このくるみ割り人形も今年購入しました。飾りだけではなく、本当にナッツを割ることができるそうですが、まだ試していません。

This nutcracker is also new this year.  It’s not just a decoration, apparently you can actually crack a nut but we haven’t tried it yet.

 

 

大きなサンタさん２人は、香港時代に購入したもの。

These 2 large Santa Clauses are what I bought when we were living in Hong Kong.

隅っこに電飾付きの黒い枝と一緒に飾っている枝はゴールドっぽく写っていますが、白です。雪が積もった枝のように作られています。

The branches that are black with lights and the leaves and fake pine cones look goldish but the branches are white (flocked) and the other ones are in silver.

 

 

１階のお手洗いにも少し飾っています。

とりあえず一気に飾りましたが、多分、しっくりくるまであちらこちらに動かすと思いますし、落ち着いてからも結構場所を変えて楽しみます。クリスマスの飾りが出ると、一気に華やかになって、クリスマスらしくなります。

I’ve put things here and there without thinking too much today, I’ll probably move them around until I feel they look right, but even after that I usually move them around.  With all these decorations, our house is looking quite Christmassy now.
