今日は、念願のブルーベルの森に行ってきました。イギリスでは春のお花というとブルーベルでお花の中で一番好きだという人が多いお花ですし、実際に春になるとお友達の間でもブルーベルは良く話題になります。イギリスに住むようになったらいろいろなお花を見に出かけたいと思っていて、中でもブルーベルを見るのは楽しみにしていました。去年はロックダウンで家の周りしか出かけてはいけなかったので見に行けなくて残念なおもいをしたので、特に今年は楽しみにしていたのです。

We finally went to see bluebells today!  In England, bluebells seem to be what people think of spring flowers and they come up in conversations more than any other flowers. Going to see bluebells was always one of the things we were looking forward to doing once we started living in Egland.  Last year, we weren’t able to do it because of the lockdown, so we were specially looking forward to seeing them this year.

イギリスにはブルーベルがたくさん見られるブルーベルウォークやブルーベルウッズがたくさんありどこに行こうか迷っていたのですが、先週、お天気が良かった日に家から車で１０分ほどのところにある「Angmering Woods 」というところにたくさんブルーベリーが咲いていると読んだので行ってみました、けれど、２キロ半ほど歩いたのですが、その場所に行きつけなかったのか、それともまだあまり咲いていなかったのか、写真を撮りたくなるほど咲いているところは見られませんでした。残念！

There are many bluebell walks and bluebell woods everywhere so I didn’t know where to go, but we did try a place called “Angmering Woods”, which is only 10 minutes by car from home, last week as I read quite a lot of information online that you can see lots of bluebells there.  However, we were not able to see many of them, we don’t know if we didn’t get to the right area or they weren’t out yet.  We walked 2.5km or so.

このところお天気が悪く、昨日と今日は良いお天気ですが明日からまた１週間以上お天気が悪いようなので、リベンジするなら今日がチャンス！と昨日の夜に入場の予約を入れて、我が家から車で１時間ほどのところにある「Arlington Bluebell Walk & Farm」というところに行ってきました。今年はずっと気温が低かったのでやはり例年より開花が遅れていて、ちょうどピークになったところだと係の方がおっしゃっていました。まだあまり咲いていない場所もあったので、あと１週間くらいはきれいなのではないかと思います。

The weather hasn’t been very good recently but we had good weather yesterday and today.  It’s expected to change for the worse tomorrow, so last night we decided to try another place today and booked the tickets to get into “Arlington Bluebell Walk & Farm“, which is about an hour from home.  As the temperature hasn’t gone up much yet this year, they didn’t start flowering until later than usual, but we were told that the peak has just started.  There were quite a lot of areas, where they weren’t out much yet, so I guess it’ll look beautiful for another week or so.

結構広い場所で、先の方までブルーベルが広がっていて、本当に綺麗でした。写真ではその美しさが伝わらず残念です。

It was quite a large area but you could see bluebells everywhere, it was really beautiful and magical.  I feel sad that the photos don’t show how beautiful they looked.

ついこの間まで、もう春のはずなのにいつまで経っても裸木が多くて冬っぽいな、なんて思っていたのですが、ふと気づくともう木々は葉っぱがふさふさしていて、あちらこちらに奈の花畑も広がっていて、春らしくなっていました。気温はまだあまり高くないのでまだジャケットが必要ですが、今日は太陽が燦々と差して初夏のようでした。

明日からまたお天気が崩れて、１週間以上雨になるようです。今日行っておいて良かったです。

Just last week, we were saying how it still looked like winter with a lot of bare trees but we noticed today that the trees were full of leaves now and I spotted quite a few yellow patches of rape flowers and it did look very springlike.  You still need a jacket as the temperature isn’t very high but it even felt like an early summer with such strong sun.

As I say, apparently it’ll be raining from tomorrow for more than a week.  I’m so happy we went out today.
