Chicken Cream Stew

今日の夕食は、滅多に作らないクリームシチュー。具はチキンのもも肉、人参、ポテト、ブロッコリー。こちらのレシピを参考にしました。多分、クリームシチューを作ったのはこれが3度目か4度目。実は子供の頃から乳製品が苦手で、結婚した頃はまだほとんど乳製品がいただけなかったのでこういうお料理もどこかで食べた記憶もなく、何が正解なのか今ひとつわかっていません。こんなものかな、という感じで作ってみましたが、チキンが少し臭みがあったのと(こちらのもも肉は臭みが気になることが多く、今回は薄味なので目立ったのかも)、なんとなく、やっぱりあまり好みのお料理ではないかもと思いました(笑)、多分乳製品臭さが結構強めだからかと思います。夫は美味しいと食べていたので、良かったです。

Today’s dinner was Chicken Cream Stew.  “Cream Stew” is one of the very popular meals in Japan, but I didn’t used to eat any dairy when I was young so I’d never had this at my parents’ nor in any restaurants/cafes so I don’t know what it is supposed to be like.  I started eating more dairy slowly after I got married, I still cannot eat a lot, partly because my tummy doens’t seem to like it, but also I don’t like strong dairy smell.

I saw someone making something like this and it made me want to try again, but I have to say I didn’t enjoy it so much.  The chicken thighs were a little “gamy” like they often can be in England and also I guess it does taste quite “dairy”.  I like gratine but this is probably not for me.  My husband enjoyed it, though, I’m glad to say.
