ロンドンに２泊して、今日の夕方無事に戻ってきました。戻ってきたら、家が寒すぎて〜（涙）。わたしは暑がりでもあり寒がりでもあるので（ストライクゾーンが狭い　笑。）寒くてはたまりません。徐々に温まって来ていますが、暖かくなるまでまだしばらくかかりそうです。お昼ごろに夫が携帯から暖房をオンにしていましたが、冷め切った家はなかなか温まりません。寒くなるのはわかっていたのだし、２泊なんだから暖房をオンにしたままにしてくれれば良かったのに。オンにしていても一日中つけっぱなしではなくある一定の時間帯にだけオンするようにプルグラムしているので、経費の面では冷め切ったものを温める方がかかると思います。２年前に引っ越してきた時のことを思い出しました、あの時も家の中は寒かった。そして、普段どれだけ暖房がよく効いているかってことですよね。

We got back from London, where we stayed for 2 nights, back home safely to a very very cold house!  It’s getting warmer in here now but I guess it’ll take a while before it’s properly warm.  My husband turned the heating on around lunch time via his mobile phone but it’s taking a long time to warm up as it had gone completely cold.  We knew it was going to get cold and it was only 2 nights, away so it might have been better to keep it on, it’s not as if it’s on all the time, it comes on only certain times of the day.  I think it costs more to warm up a completely cold house than keeping it on for 2 days.  This reminded me of how cold it was when we moved in 2 years ago.  This also shows how effective the heating in this house is.

戻ってきたのがもう夕方だったので、夕食は冷凍していたチリコンカーニ。

We got back in early evening so we had Chilli Con Carni that we’d frozen sometime ago for dinner.

 

 

 

ロンドン、疲れましたが楽しかったです。引っ越してきたらロンドンには１、２ヶ月に１回行こうねと言っていたのですが、１度行ったきりでした。ブラックフライデーの数日前に行ったと思うので（すごく人が多かった）、丁度２年ぶりのロンドンでした。

We enjoyed our time in London although we found it a bit tiring.  When we moved to England we were planning to visit London once a month or so but so far this was our 2nd time since we moved.  We were there a few days before the Black Friday 2 years ago, it was extremely busy.

それにしても、やはり、マスクをしている人が少ないのには驚きました。ただ、いつものこの時期ならいっぱいでお店になかなか入れないくらいのところもありますが、今年は人が少なかったです。フォートナム＆メイソンなどもいつもならこの時期でなくてもすごい人なのですが、今日は早い時間に行ったせいもあると思いますがガラガラでした。

We were surprised how most people aren’t wearing masks, but at least the streets and shops were very quiet comparing to usual, many shops were so full when we were there 2 years ago.  For example, Fortnum & Mason is always very busy, not only this time of year, but it was almost empty when we were there early this morning.

ロンドンからアップしましたが、ロンドンはもうすっかりクリスマス仕様になっていて、イルミネーションがきれいでした。多分毎年同じなのかも、と思いますが、シンプルで素敵です。お店のウィンドーや陳列もクリスマス一色で、少しクリスマス気分になって帰ってきました。

Like I blogged from London, London was looking very Christmassy with beautiful illuminations.  I think most of them might be the same for many years and they are very simple but very beuatiful.  The windows and displays of shops were also very Christmassy and we came back feeling more Christmassy than when we left.

ロンドンには特に目的があって行ったわけではなく、クリスマスが近いので少しお買い物をしたかったのと、この辺りでは行けないタイプのレストランで食事もしたいし、クリスマスのイルミネーションも楽しみたいし、ということで行ってきました。クリスマスのお買い物と言っても、シンガポールに行ってから結構すぐの時期に、基本的にはクリスマスのプレゼントはやめようということになっています。もうこの年になると欲しいものは大抵もっていますし、特に夫は欲しいものを欲しいときに買えるので、わたしが考えてプレゼント出来るようなものはなかなかないのです。ただ、わたしはある程度の金額を超えると普段勝手には買えないので、その前後に何か欲しいものがあったら買うような形にしています。この辺りは田舎でブランドもののお店は皆無なのでそういうものが見つかる可能性はゼロ、そういうものはネットでは買いたくないのでロンドンで見かけたら買う予定でした。何軒か入ってみましたがなかなかこれと思うものが目につかなかったので諦めかけたところで見つけて、とりあえず、お誕生日だかクリスマスだかわかりませんが買ってもらいました。夫も気に入ったブーツがあったので、収穫があって良かったです（その場で履いたのでクリスマスのプレゼントでないですが）。

We went to London not for specific reason,  but we wanted to do a little shopping specially as Christmas is close, eat out in sorts of restaurants that don’t exist around here and enjoy Christmas illuminations.  I say shopping as Christmas is close but we sort of stopped buying Christmas presents qiute soon after we moved to Singapore because we couldn’t find anything we really wanted.  At our age we have most things that we want, specially my husband, who can buy what he wants when he wants.  However, I cannot really buy what I want if it cost more than certain amount so my husband usually gets me something if I have something I want.  There are no designer shops around here so I was hoping I would see something I want when we were in London, and I did find something after visiting many shops so he got it for me.  My husband also found a pair of boots he likes – and Christmas present.  Anyway, I’m glad we found things that we wouldn’t have found here.

この辺りでは美味しいレストランはなかなかないですし、例えば和食のお店などもないので、ロンドンでの食事も楽しみにしていました。外食については、また、ゆっくりアップします。

We also looked forward to going to the sorts of restaurants that don’t exist here – like Japanese.  I’ll blog about eating out in London later.
