今日は、夫の弟夫婦とランチをしました。義弟が提案してくれた「Mandira’s Kitchen」というインド料理のレストランに行ってきました。ギルフォードの近くにあり、昔は何もなく池だけがあるところだったそうで、若い頃近くに住んでいた夫は時々歩きに行っていたのだそうです。小さなレストランですが、レストランだけではなくお料理教室を開催したり、食器や食料品を販売したり、インド料理を冷凍した状態でデリバリーもされているそうです。ただ、外席しかなく席数も少ないので予約は必要だと思います。特に日陰になる席は限られているので、とても暑かったので今日は日陰に座ることが出来て良かったです、日陰では快適でした。

We had lunch with my husband’s  younger brother and his wife at “Mandira’s Kitchen” near Guildford that they had suggested.  Apparently, when my husband lived near there when he was young, he used to go to this spot to walk around the pond there (The Silent Pool), and at that time there was nothing around there at all.  This is a small restaurant but they deliver homecooked and frozen food, sell some dishes, spices etc and also run some cooking classes.  It has only outdoor tables and there aren’t many of them so you should book in advance.  There are even a fewer tables under cover and we were very happy that we were able to take one of them as it was very hot today, it was quite comfortable under cover.

We shared a Daal Makhani Tahli and a Chicken Biriyani Tahli.

 

 

義弟夫婦は、野菜のターリとチキン・ビリヤニターリをシェアー。

My brother-in-law and his wife shared a Vegetable Thali and a Chicken Biriyani Tahli.

そして、それぞれにアイスクリームかシャーベットをオーダー。わたしと義妹はライチ・マーティーニのシャーベット。あまり甘くなく、さっぱりとして美味しかったです。

Then we each ordered ice cream / Sorbet for dessert.  My sister-in-law and I had Lychee & Martini Sorbet.  It wasn’t very sweet, nice and refreshing.

夫と義弟はチャイとピスタチオのアイスクリーム。

My husband and his brother had Chai & Pistachio Ice cream.

 

 

ランチのあとは、すぐ近くにあったチーズ屋さん Norbury Park Farm で Dorking Cock Cheese というチェダータイプのチーズを買い、

After lunch, we went to a cheese shop next to it, “Norbury Park Farm” and bought Dorking Cock Cheese (Cheddar Type).

 

 

 

そのすぐ近くのジンの蒸溜所のお店でジンを買い、

We also went to the shop of the Gin Distillery that is in the same small development and bought a bottle of gin.

 

 

そして、池の側を少し歩いたとき、池にMoorhen（鵜？）の赤ちゃんがお母さんと一緒に泳いでいるところを見かけました。赤ちゃん、可愛いというには微妙（笑）。

We then walked around the pond and saw some Moorhens and their babies.  Not sure if the babies are cute…
