ロンドンではお芝居やライブジャズやコンサートやオペラなど、何かしら催しを見に行くのも楽しみの一つ。前回来た時はまだコロナに感染するのが心配だったので我慢したのですが、イギリスはもうほぼ通常に戻っているので（感染者は今も出ていますが、重症患者や死者は随分減りました）今回は明日のオペラ、マダムバタフライのチケットを取っていて、久しぶりのオペラを楽しみにしていました。ところが、今日、キャンセルになったというメールが届きました。鉄道や地下鉄のストでスタッフが出勤出来ないというのが理由。とても残念！

One of the things we love doing in London is to go to some kind of event like a play, live jazz, a concert, an opera etc. The last time we were in London we decided not to go to any of them because the situation with Covid was still bad enough to make us worry, but we felt we can now as things seem to be almost back to normal (there are still people infected but the number of people seriously ill and killed by Covid is significantly smaller). So we booked tickets for Madam Butterfly tomorrow and were looking forward to going to such an event for the first time since the start of the Pandemic. However, we received an email from the Royal Opera House this afternoon saying the event was cancelled due to the railway strike as their staff cannot reach there. So sad….
