Cottage Pie


Today’s dinner was Cottage Pie, which is a homey meal in England.  As it’s a homey meal, there are many variations but we use onion, carrot, (usually celery as well but we didn’t have any), tin tomato, salt, papper and water – we added bay leavces and herbs de Provence today, then topped it with mashed potato (and added some grated nutmeg).  We also put a little pizza cheese on top.  Then put it in the oven and cook for 20 minutes or so until it’s nice and brown.   We enjoyed it. I think this is one of few ‘typical English meals’ that we cook at home – as well as roast of course.
