今日は雨が降る予報でしたが降らず、良いお天気でした。気温も少し上がって１４、５度まで上がっていました。ただ、チチェスターは風が強くてわたしはウルトラダウンを着ていましたが結構寒かったです、風がなければ暖かいのですが。
The forecast said it was going to rain today, but it turned out to be good all day. It also got a little warmer, up to 14C or 15C. However, it was quite windy in Chichester (it seems to be always windy in Chichester), so it did feel cold even though I was wearing an ‘ultra down coat’. Without the wind, it felt nice and warm.
今日はお昼頃にチチェスターのネイルサロンの予約を入れていたので、その後、何度か行っている「Purchases」のメニューが前回から変わっているそうなのでランチをしてきました。しっかりランチをいただいて、夜は余り食べない日です。日本はどうなのかわからないのですが、イギリスではほとんどのレストランのメニューは余り変わらず、比較的よく変わるレストランで３ヶ月に１度変わるようで、このレストランは３ヶ月ごとに変わるそうです。そして、イギリスではランチタイムもディナータイムもお値段が変わらないところが多いのですが、こちらはランチタイムのコースは比較的お得になっています。
I had an appointment with a nail salon in Chichester so after that we had a big lunch at “Purchases”, since we had seen that they have a new season menu. When we have a big lunch like this we don’t eat much in the evening. I don’t know what it’s like in Japan these days, but in England the menus in most restaurants don’t seem to change much (though they’ll change a few items now and again). Some restaurants change their menu every 3 months, which is probably more frequent than some, and this restaurant also changes their menu every 3 months. Also, in Japan, most restaurants serve lunch at much less prices than in the evening (and in Hong Kong and Singapore), but here many restaurants serve lunch and dinner at the same prices and not many places have a lunch set menu.
夫は前菜に「ゴートチーズムース（ローストバターナッツスクウォッシュ、パンプキンシード、春玉ねぎ、ビーツ、ワイルドガーリックペスト）」を選びました。とても美味しいと言っていました。
My husband chose “Goat’s Cheese Mousse (with Roasted Butternut Squash, Pumpkin Seeds, Charred Spring Onions, Local Beets and Wild Garlic Pesto) to start with. He said it was very good.
わたしは、チキンとアプリコットのバロティン（マリネしたレーズン、スモークしたリークのソース、カリカリの」鶏の皮）。そういえば、アプリコットの味はしなかったな、と思いますが、添えてあったマスタード風味のマヨネーズが美味しかったです。
I had Chicken and Apricot Ballotine (with Pickled Raisins, Smoked Leek Emulsion and Crispy Chicken Skin). I have to say I don’t remember tasting apricot very much but I liked the mustardy mayonnaise that was on the side.
夫のメインは、チョーク・ストリーム・トラウトのフィレのベイク、オリーブタペナーデのせ、クリームで和えたリークと新じゃがのクラッシュとチャイブのヴェルーテ。これも、とても美味しかったそうです。
As the main, my husband had Baked Fillet of Chalk Stream Trout, topped with Olive Tapenade and Served with Creamed Leeks, Crushed New Potatoes and Chive Veloute. He loved this, too.
わたしは、ロースト赤パプリカとワイルドガーリックのアランチーニ（トマトとバジルソース、ロケットサラダ、ワイルドガーリックオイル）をいただきましたが、美味しかったです。結構ボリュームがあったので、１つは夫に食べてもらいました。
I had Roasted Red Pepper and Wild Garlic Arancini with Tomato & Basil Sauce, Rocket Salad and Wild Garlic Oil. It was quite filling so my husband helped me and had one of the arancini.
夫のデザートは、コーヒー風味のクレームブリュレ、ミルクのクリスプとマスカルポーネのシャーベット添え。私も少しもらいましたが、美味しかったです。
My husband’s dessert was Coffee Creme Brulee with Milk Crisp and Mascarpone Sorbet. I had a little bit, it was very nice.
わたしは暖かいチョコレート・ブラウニー、ハニーコームアイスクリームと冷凍ラズベリーのクラム。今回美味しくなかったのは、これだけでした。硬くてぱさぱさ。中がグーイーなタイプだと思っていました。
I had Warm Chocolate Brownie with Honeycomb Ice Cream and Frozen Raspberry Crumb. This was the only thing we didn’t enjoy, it was very hard and dry, I expected it to be more gooey inside.
ランチセットにワイン１杯ずつとガス入りのお水１本で、７３ポンド（１２０００円）。安いと思いましたが、日本円にすると高いですね（笑）。
We each had their lunch set with a glass of wine each and a bottle of sparkling water and it was £73, which seemed less expensive than I expected but as soon as I converted it to yen it seems very expensive!
