今日は良いお天気だったので、サクッとランチをしてから出かけることにしました。残念なことに出かける頃には曇ってしまっていましたが（良くあるパターン）、雨は４時か５時ごろに降り始める予報だったので、決行することにしました。場所は、車で１５分程度のところにある、West Dean Gardens に久しぶりに行って来ました。前回行ったのは、半年前の９月。ずっとお天気が悪いですからね〜。
The weather was nice this morning so we thought we would go out after a quick lunch. Sadly, it got cloudy by the time we finished our lunch (which seems to happen a lot), but we still went out as the rain wasn’t expected until 4:00pm or 5:00pm. We went to West Dean Gardens, which is only about 15 minutes or so by car from us. The last time when we were there was in September so 6 months ago! The weather has been bad for so long that we hadn’t had many opportunities to go there.
そろそろ子羊ちゃんの季節なので子羊が見られるのを楽しみにしていたのですが、なぜか見かけませんでした。
We were looking forward to seeing some little lambs as it’s a lambing season but we saw no sheep at all.
季節が季節なので、お花はあまり見かけず、水仙、クリスマスローズ、マグノリア、ヒアシンス、くらいでした。でも、イギリスでは冬でも緑が綺麗。多分雨が多いからだと思います。日本はあまり雨も雪も降らないので、冬は茶色いイメージです。
This time of year you don’t see many flowers, they were narcissus, Christmas roses, magnolias, hyacinths,… that’s about it. Still, it stays green in winter in England, which is nice, I guess due to the rain. I have a feeling it’s brown in winter in Japan because it doens’t rain much.
川は氾濫ギリギル。

ぐるっと歩いた後は、カフェでケーキとお茶、外は寒かったので、わたしたちは中で。
After walking, we had tea and cake in the cafe – outside was a bit too cold for us so we sat inside.
コーヒーと胡桃のケーキとレモン・ドリズルケーキを半分ずつ。
We shared Coffee & Walnut Cake and Lemon Drizzle.
久しぶりに少し長めの距離を歩けて良かったです、と言っても５０００歩程度ですが。
Glad we had a little longer walk than we usually can – though it was till only about 5,000 steps.
