お友達は、もうすぐ出発するフライトで日本に帰られました。５日間、たくさん歩いて、たくさんお喋りして、たくさん一緒にお料理して、とても楽しい日々でした。２週間ちょっとのホリデーの中からお時間を割いて遊びに来てくださって、とても嬉しかったです。わたしたちの年齢になると時間には限りがあることを実感として感じるので、若い頃よりももっとどう時間を使うかが大事に感じられる気がします、そんな中、ロンドンから離れたところまで来てくださってご一緒していただけてとても嬉しく感じますし、楽しい時間でした。お友達にとっても楽しい時間だったのだと良いなと思っています。

Our friend is at the airport waiting for her flight back to Japan now.  We walked a lot, chatted a lot, cooked a lot and had a lot of fun together in the last 5 days.  I appreciate that she spent the time with us during her 2 weeks (plus a bit) of holiday.  When you get to our age, I think we feel the time has limitation, more than when we were younger, and we don’t want to waste our limited time for something we aren’t keen on, so I really appreciate her taking time to come to us, stay with us and spend time with us.  Hope she also had a great time.

少し戻って、昨日の朝はペットワースというマーケットタウンに行ってぶらぶらっと歩きました。我が家から車で３０分くらい、古いチャーミングな建物が並んでいる、アンティークショップで知られる素敵な小さな街です。人気がある街ですし、昨日は土曜日だったので、結構、人出がありました。小さな街なので、１０分ほど歩けば（お店の中に入らなければ）全部見られてしまいます。

Going back to yesterday, we went to Petworth, which is a market town about 30 minutes by car from us,  It has lots of charming old buildings and well known for its antique shops.  It’s very popular and as it was a Saturday yesterday it was quite busy.  It is a very small town so probably 10 minutes is enough to walk from one end to the other.
