今日はら2泊で、ブリストルに来ています。去年も同じ時期に来たのですが、ブリストルには甥っ子が2人住んでいて、その1人は結婚していて今年9月に初めての赤ちゃんが産まれました。赤ちゃんにも会っておきたかったですし、クリスマスプレゼントやカードを渡す良い機会でもあり、みんなに会える良い機会ですし、街のクリスマスのライティングなどのデコレーションを楽しんでクリスマス気分にも浸れるので、今年もこのタイミングで来ることにしました。

We are in Bristol today and are staying here for 2 nights. We came here around the same time last year to see our nephews and the wife of one of them. This year, one of them and his wife had their first baby (a girl) in September and we haven’t seen the baby yet, so we thought it would be lovely to see her and everyone else together. We can pass our Christmas presents & cards, have a catch up with them and also enjoy the Christmas decorations of the city.

昨日、やっとクリスマスツリーを買いました！というのも、買った日は、バケツにお水を入れて外に1日おいておいてから翌日室内に入れるのですが、濡れてしまうとカーペットの敷いてあるリビングルームに入れたくないので、雨が降らない日で他の予定が入っていないタイミングがなかなかなかったのです。

We finally bought our Christmas tree yesterday. We’d been waiting for the time when we had two consecutive dry days, so the tree doesn’t get wet while it sits overnight in a bucket in the garden, when we didn’t have any other plan on.

今年のツリーは去年のものほど幅を取らず、形も（まだ枝が下がり切っていなかったのではっきりとはわかりませんが）綺麗なように思います。

So this is the tree. It’s not as wide as last year’s (which was quite wide) and looks like a good shape although we cannot be sure yet as it hadn’t let all the branches come down fully.

今朝、夫がライトを飾ってくれたので、家に戻ったら飾り付けをする予定です。

My husband put the lights on this morning, so we’ll decorate it together when we get back.

昨日は、お友達に「ドリンクにいらしてください」とお招きいただいていたので、夕方、お隣のご夫婦と伺いました。「ドリンク」といえばおつまみ程度、ということになっていますが、「食べるものは十分あるので、ご飯は食べないでいらしてください。」とご連絡いただいていたのでそうしましたが、本当にたくさんご馳走を用意してくださっていました。写真を撮れる雰囲気ではなかったので、写真がなく残念です。M＆Sのおつまみ系のものをたくさんいただいた後、とても美味しいタイチキンカレーをいただき、デザートにチーズもいただきました。美味しく楽しいひとときでした。

We went to our friend’s place for ‘drinks’ in the evening yesterday, together with our next door neighbours. Although it was supposed to be ‘drinks’, she did tell us that there will be substancial food so not to eat before visiting her and there was a lot of food! After a lot of nibbles that she got from M&S, we had a very delicious Thai chicken curry and then some cheese after. I didn’t feel comfortable to take photos so there is no photo of the gathering but we had a lovely evening with lots of delicious food.
